hi i have a 1990 mustang lx 5.0 with auto tranny. i was thinking bout swappin stock gears for some 4.10's being it an automatic. i was wondering how much it would cost to buy and install gears. like say gears are $200. what is the usual pricing to put them in including the 200 for the gears. thanks alot :D

I would guess $500 plus...

My best quote for my '95 for JUST LABOR is $450. Maybe my area is expensive, but everyone wants 8 hours of labor at $50 an hour at least plus some incidental charges...

I quit looking until winter...

If your car is stock...4.10 is an overkill
why would you say that? how are gears overkill, rule of thumb is subframeconnectors and gears should be the first modifications to a 5.0 mustang. and also the best gear choice for an auto is 4.10, manual is 3.73. sou why are they overkill?

4.10's aren't overkill for an automatic. The majority of people I see with auto's generally go with 4.10's and love them.

After gears and SFC's, then I would STRONGLY suggest a good shift kit. Then your mustang will really drive like a Mustang!

Just had all of this done to my 91 GT. Had 3.73s put in my AOD car. It cost me $400.00 with the price of the gears included. I put a transgo AOD shift reprogramming kit in it not their regular shift kit. My opinion on these mods are that they were definitely a good thing to do and I feel a very good difference in the car, but I would say to you that if you drive the car regularly and on the highway go 3.73. Performs great but even with the 3.73s it tacs up there pretty good at about 80MPH. Just my thoughts and what I have experienced with these mods.:bigthumbsup
