Hi folks. After 6-1/2 years, my 66 project is out of the barn under it's own power. BUT, I have a bad disc/disc problem. The brakes on a 10 speed bike grab better. Basically what I have installed is a BVC 15 disc/disc master cyl with a PV4 proportioning valve mounted under it. The system was bench bled and then each caliper was done many times with a vacuum bleeder. The booster is new and is connected to an external electric vacuum pump producing mucho vac. I did my first test drive (in my driveway) and the brakes are horrible. I talked to another guy who said I should not need the PV4 underneath because the master has it's own proportioning valve built in?? That all I'm doing is reducing the line pressure (or flow) twice Can anyone help me out with this. I absolutely will not take it on the road until I get good braking in the driveway. Thanks...Chip

You'll need to make sure the pedal rod is adjusted properly. I had mine too short for a while and couldn't get any braking or firmness in the pedal. Ended up backing it almost all the way out to get it to engage. A proportioning valve may be a good idea just to tune brake balance, so I'd leave it in. Besides, you can back it all the way out so it won't have an effect.

Thanks Paul 289. Just what I didn't ever want to do again is get under the dash board. LOL Now, I have another piece to this puzzle. The BVC15 Master cylinder is for a 67-69 disc/disc. BUT, the advertisement also said it will work in a 65-66 Mustang. (Check CJ Pony parts for add). That said, a gent on another forum said I need to install the 67 Mustang disc brake pedal???? First time I've heard that, but he may be right????

That's probably your culprit, then. I'd get an adjustable pedal rod for it. Makes fitment that much easier. If you do run out of adjustment, you can just get a bolt or threaded rod, cut it to the length you need, and adjust it as necessary.

paul289, you may have hit the nail on the head already. I had to remove the drivers seat and remove the signal lever so not to damage it or the mechanism when I stuffed my fat you know what back under one more time. The piece already had a threaded barrel adjuster on it BUT, one end was stuck in the all retracted position. I had to take everything apart and loosen it in a vice. I just put it all back together and tomorrow morning I will try it. Thanks for the help! :nerd:
