Sure, the 1971-73 Mustang was designed for the 429 CJ. This job can be done with stock Mustang parts.

Of course, the truck never came with a Cobra Jet, so where did that engine originally come from?

Ok, will it hook up to a C4 a/t? I have no idea where it came from, saw a classified ad for it

No a c4 will only work with a small block you need a big block c6 if you want a auto.

yea, a C4 will work. have to have 351M/400 bell housing. the transmission will need some beefing up.

If i had to replace the transmission, would it be hard to hook up a manual to a car that was a stock A/T?

No the 351m used a big block bell housing pattern.If you want a auto trans get a big block c6 anything else will take a adapter to work with.
