450 whp on stock 2v. Danger?

We’ve all seen and heard too many mixed opinions on this topic. My tuner said he’s seen stock 2v’s handle 550 to the wheel comfortably, he also said he’s seen them fail at 400. Obviously there’s many factors involved here. I’m running an 02 gt making 396 to the wheel right now with a Vortech v3, stock internals. I’m itching to cam, and I would guess that would put it somewhere around 440-450. Car has 88k miles, driven about once a week for the past 12 years, light footed 95% of the time. Would I be gambling with the devil? What would you guys do if you were me? Open to all opinions.

Does it have the fuel requirements to support 40-50 more horses or whatever it might be? If so, probably be ok.

My pump says it’s good for 500+ hp, and I’m running fic 1000 injectors, so it’s plenty.

I wonder how much is the “plus?” 450 at the wheels equals something like 520 or so at the motor.

I agree!!!!!!! Without some $ dumped into the block & heads... not to mention the tranny & diff and suspension, it's just going to be a waste... IMHO

The block and “innards” might make it but the drivetrain is gonna take a thrashing.

I would actually look into getting some decent heads or have yours ported if your gonna do cams. You will be able to put that extra air from the v3 to good use. It sounds like you already have the fuel supply there. It’s not power that will tear the motor up, it’s bad tuning. With the right tune and set up , 500 HP is not too much on a modular bottom end. Just make sure to tighten up the drivetrain.

Thank you everyone for the input. I was kinda feeling like the cams by themselves with the current setup it’s running would be a bit of a gray area, would be more logical to forge the bottom end and do heads while I’m at it. Then we could aim a lot higher.
Edit- not to mention drivetrain as well.

Who makes heads for these? There’s the one TFS set, but what else is out there?

Patriot performance makes a really trick set, albeit pretty expensive. They are very quality pieces that would definitely be ideal for building a strong motor.
