1990 Mustang 5.0 H.O--
Problem- Running very rich, backfiring through intake and exhaust when driven
**Car Idles ok and firing order is correct. I had the fuel presure regulator not hooked up to vacuum and it ran but popped. Just found that problem today and got it hooked up to vacuum but still the same problem. Should I change the plugs? reset the computer? I am stumped**
Mods are vv
-TFS stage 1 cam
-Edelbrock Performer RPMII Intake--
Vacuum to…
fuel pressure regulator
brake booster
pcv
-Edelbrock 70mm Throttle Body
-AEM cold air intake
-Smog/EGR Delete
-Edelbrock Performer Heads 1.90 intake with pushrod guide plates
-PRW 1.6 roller rockers
-6.7 pushrods
-24lb injectors
-75mm Maf calibrated for 24 lb injectors
-BBK shorty headers
If anyone can help it would be really appreciated!! Im stumped and dont want to have to take it to a shop when its this far along

Reset the EEC and check fuel pressure, my suspect #1 is the regulator.
Also..check MAF and wiring.

DO change the plugs too, could be fouled.

jezus man. you need a cam to go with those heads. Not that its the problem of course, but it would help with power obviously.

Check you timing. my guess is that its off a bit.

It has a cam... I didnt want to go crazy but this is a wild card im throwing out here. Ive been having trouble with vacuum also but it idles fine could it be loose injectors? or that their not sealing properly?? I saw that somewhere and if it is that It would make me soo happy Ill have to try it out when i get some new plugs

Check your timing and if your injectors were loose you will smell or see fuel.

Timing is good and I do smell fuel under the hood at times. Also these were used injectors is their a possibilty one (or more) are leaking fuel when they should be closed? Thanks for the imput btw :)
