I've just acquired a 5 lug rear end out of a 1996 lincoln towncar. Disc brakes, nothing cut, the whole nine.

I was wondering if it's possible to put this rear in a mustang, or if I'm going to have to gut it, and use an 8.8 from a mustang with all the guts from the towncar rear end.

Any feedbacjk?

I'm not sure if those rears are the same width. I'd measure both and see if they're the same or not. If they're the same width, then you should be able to put it in. If not, you might want to rebuild the Mustang 8.8 with those brakes.

I've never heard of anyone using this axle or brakes for a swap. My guess is that it is a different width and/or the mounting points are not the same as the Mustang.
