I bought my baby:hearton:... a 2005 White/Beige cloth V-6 Auto on August 8th.
It currently has 5,624 miles on it (when I dropped it off yesterday.)

So far, it has been in for service four times for the following and I was wondering if anyone else had experienced similar issues with their new Stang.

2,456 Miles -
Check Engine light on - EGR "Vent Valve" Faulty. Ordered/replaced.
Passenger window seal leaking - Replaced Seal
Poor Fuel Economy, Avg. 16 MPG, 80% Most 70mph highway W/A/C OFF. -
- Normal operation observed. Advise customer to drive cautiously. (I Have a light foot already!!!)
Detail - Return to customer.

3,299 Miles - (New Dealer)
Perform complimentary first oil service.
Check Engine light on - R&R EGR "Vent Valve" Faulty (AGAIN!?!?!?:eyebulge:)
Cust. States Poor fuel economy, 16 MPG - Normal Operation Observed.
Detail - Return to customer

4,489 Miles -
Cust. States oil leaking when parked. - Oil pan bolts found loose, Re-torque to factory spec.
Cust. states A/C Causes rough idle/occ.Stall. - Normal Operation Obsrvd.
Cust states fuel economy dropped, 16MPG-14.5 MPG. - Normal Operation - Test drove w/Cust. to observe driving habits.
Detail - Return to customer

5,624 miles - CURRENTLY IN SERVICE DEPT.
Automatic Transmission whines in second gear, also abrupt shifting from 3rd to 4th along with delayed Reverse Engagement. Test drove w/Tech. Tech agreed it was a bit rough and reverse delay was unacceptable.

Pass. Power window "Express Up" feature inop for 6 days, then worked. Will "Check it out."

A/C No longer operational. Already know the prob... - Freon leaked. Locating leak.

When slowing over rough/bumpy road ABS engages prematurely. Tech Observed and Agreed.
fuel economy dropped, 16MPG-14.5 MPG

When selecting footwell vents on Climate Control, Heat comes out mostly from defroster, functions properly on all other settings. Tech Observed and Agreed.

Front brakes have LOCKED twice. When starting after sitting, selecting reverse, releasing parking brake and pressing accelerator, rear wheels spin but fron stay stationary!?!?!?!?! Both times vehicle was parked on 100% level surface with no obstruction to wheels.

Brakes intermittently feel like they are grinding (feeling through steering wheel/brake pedal)

Brakes Squeak Intermittently.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I have been to Barber Ford in Ventura, CA (Selling dealer) And Kemp Ford in Thousand Oaks, CA. I called three other dealers... One actually suggested I was breaking the car in "Too quickly" WTF????? STAY AWAY FROM "VISTA FORD in OXNARD, CA!!!!"

Any thoughts anyone? Did I just get a lemon or possible my baby is just breaking in and having a little ADD?
TIA

none of the above

I've had my car for over 3 mos and don't have any problems whatsoever. I'm not real finicky about minute small problems, but I haven't had anything negative happen to my car yet. Only one thing......it gets dirty quickly.

Black 05 GT 5 spd rred leather and dash upgrade. getting 18.4 mpg, but no long trips

I Bought it brand spakin' new. infact it was sitting on the showroom floor:cool: I drive even more than that!!! I originally owned the following:
1999 BMW 323i (Garage queen, bought new 89k)
1995 BMW 740i (Daily Driver, Bought new & traded in on Stang - 348k)
1984 BMW 318i (Beater car, bought in 1988 - 286k)

So now I just have the 323, 318, and the mustang. I try to drive them all equally now that I have the Stang... I would estimate I have driven around 10k since the beginning of August (a bit more than usual).

The funny thing is, after I traded my 740 in, I went through all the Breakdowns. They totaled 8, with only two needing a tow and one of the 8&tows was when I rear ended someone. It gave me less trouble with 348,000 US Miles than this new Mustang with 5k!

Also, neither Kemp or Barber Ford has offered me a rental vehicle... I don't want/need one when I can just drive my 323 or beat my 318 anyway...
The 323 did go in 3 times for warranty repairs within the first 15k though...
But only once since, so 4 times total and never towed.

I keep ALL records for my vehicles... The Mustang got me thinking, so lets total this up, The costs listed INCLUDE Scheduled maintenance + Repairs needed... For some reason though, I cannot find any of my records for tire replacements
740i, bought in March 1995. 8 (1 warranted) Repairs... TOTAL $14,382.02
323i, Bought April 1999. 4 (3 warranted) Repairs... TOTAL $2,762.61
318, Bought July 1988 TOTAL $4186.29

It took me hours to sort through all these records and total them up...
THANK GOD the Stang is under warranty!

But can anyone figure out... WTF would cause the front brakes in the Stang to just lock like that... Then an hour or so later be fine??? I was also thinking that the front pads could be dragging = poor fuel economy = worn squeaky pads... Your thoughts?

I have read through the Lemon Law a bit, but it seems that the SAME problem must have had 4 attempted repairs or more to qualify to start the process. Ughhhh.... I'm just waiting for the lame "Could Not Duplicate" excuses.

*sniff* smells kinda citrusy in here... kinda like pledge, with that lemon fresh scent!

Seriously tho, I'd continue to keep detailed records on this car and its associated problems. The issues you've stated sound somewhat unusual for me... heck, for any new car shouldnt all be happening. I tend to be a "work with *whoever*" kinda guy, but only up unto a point. I think I would just continue to state to the dealership & to Ford corporate that the current situation with this vehicle is unacceptable. At some point, either it will get fixed & you'll be problem free, or a workable solution will be reached between you and ford (preferably on some sort of replacement imho).

When I worked tech support for a nationally known computer company (dude, your getting a computer!), we certainly had lemons show up from time to time. Fortunately we had a 30 day return policy for one... and a system replacement policy (if requested) after 4 major parts were replaced in a certain number of days. Sometimes, lemons happen. Sounds kinda like you mighta got one... unfortunately. I'd say keep pushing them (ford, in general) until you've received some satisfaction.

Alrighty... Well I thought of one more problem... When Turning left or right stopped or at low speed, a "Clunk" can be heard and felt in the steering wheel. I called my SA to ask him to check this out as well. When I called I was told my vehicle was done and ready to roll. Soooooo Here is the list of the corrections they made:

5,624 miles - PICKING UP 9-21-05
Automatic Transmission whines in second gear, also abrupt shifting from 3rd to 4th along with delayed Reverse Engagement. Test drove w/Tech. Tech agreed it was a bit rough and reverse delay was unacceptable. = NO PROBLEM FOUND. (Didn't the tech agree with me on the test drive????)

Pass. Power window "Express Up" feature inop for 6 days, then worked. Will "Check it out." = NO PROBLEM FOUND. RESET WINDOW MEMORY AS PRECAUTION.

A/C No longer operational. Already know the prob... - Freon leaked. Locating leak.-Incorrect! NO PROBLEM FOUND. A/C IN WORKING CONDITION.

When slowing over rough/bumpy road ABS engages prematurely. Tech Observed and Agreed. = NO PROBLEM FOUND. NORMAL OPERATION ACCORDING TO FORD TECH HOTLINE

fuel economy dropped, 16MPG-14.5 MPG = COMPUTER HOOKED UP AND FOUND NO PROBLEMS AND RESULTED IN THE FOLLOWING:
CRUISE @60MPH STEADY = 27.1 MPG
CITY (unknown testing roads) 15MPH-69MPH = 26.2
WTF???? 27 on the highway and 26 in the city? And when does city driving reach speeds of 69mph???

When selecting footwell vents on Climate Control, Heat comes out mostly from defroster, functions properly on all other settings. Tech Observed and Agreed.
= NO PROBLEM FOUND. TESTED 4 NEW MUSTANGS - SAME OPERATION.
NORMAL OPERATION ACCORDING TO FORD TECH HOTLINE

Front brakes have LOCKED twice. When starting after sitting, selecting reverse, releasing parking brake and pressing accelerator, rear wheels spin but front stay stationary!?!?!?!?! Both times vehicle was parked on 100% level surface with no obstruction to wheels. = NO PROBLEM FOUND.

Brakes intermittently feel like they are grinding (feeling through steering wheel/brake pedal) = NO PROBLEM FOUND/BRAKES IN GOOD CONDITION

Brakes Squeak Intermittently. PROBLEM FOUND!!! OMG!!!! They actually duplicated a problem of mine! I really do not recall what they did to fix this... I was fuming that the S/A suggested I must have been miscalculating my MPG and proceeded to instruct me as my 4th grade math teacher did!
-----------------------------------
It WAS ready 9-20-05, but I requested that they check the clunk noise. Car will be ready for pickup tomorrow provided... "NO PROBLEM FOUND"
Wouldn't it be scary if they actually found the cause of my complaint?

BOW DOWN TO THE MIGHT FOR DEALER.... DO AS THEY SAY!!!

Problems?

Check out the posts at the beginning of each page -- dealing with service bulletins -- and you'll find several relating to your problems. Go to the site that defines each with a service bulletin # that ties to a pdf (Adobe Acrobat Reader file) and you'll find the actual printout for each problem. Perhaps taking copies of the bulletins with you to the dealer, showing them to the Service Manager or to the owner, and requesting to talk to the dealer rep from Ford (in that order) might help you in your situation. The key is to be all business -- keep referring to the bulletins -- and stick to your guns (proverb-wise, not actual) -- don't take "no" for an answer. If this fails, call the Ford Customer Service with documentation of what you've done and experienced.
No way someone should have to deal with such arrogance @ a dealership when there is clear info showing problems similar to yours are well-known to Ford. Good Luck --- with documentation, you can always talk to your Attorney-General's office about your complaints.

Sounds like you got a lemon, man! Scary stuff, as is the lamefest going on at your current dealer.

As for mine, I'm at 8k miles and I've had the following probs:

1)Fuel Tank (fixed under TSB)

2)Loose/rattling screw in steering wheel (tech verified and replaced stock wheel with ISAP steering wheel no charge - YAY)

3)Shaker 1000 - replaced FOUR TIMES for skipping, bad CD reject, and (one time) complete inoperability, this 4th one seems to be working satisfactorily.

4)Squealing rear brakes - leaking caliper found and fixed, and also replaced brake pads with "new" ones that have a softer compound - no more squealing

5)Rattle in Drivers side door - living with it for now

6)Detached leather under front seats - fixed by dealer.

7)Misalinged dual exhaust outlet tips (1.5" off) - realigned by dealer

OK there are lemons in every car manufacturer....including Hondas, Toyotas, BMWs, etc...... I think you got one of them. I bought a brand new 2000 for commute. I am very rough on this particular car. I suck at maintaining on regular schedule. Sometimes oil changes 10-15k mostly 5k. I'm still on original coolant that came with the car. No transmission service, no power steering service, no brake fluid flushing, No freon service, etc...... I replaced pads (have not turned rotors) at 90k and 180k and topped of brake fluid at those times. The car has 240k today. I'm still using it for commute. Car runs good, AC is still cold and it has not seen the dealer for any reason. 2 months ago... the stock radio died but thats it. :hihi:

Lemon law does not apply only to 3 times for the same problem. Contact Ford headquarters at the back of your manual. There is a section on what to do when you want something resolved. The dealers can't help you in this case. Most of them won't do the leg work for you. In my 89 Stang, I got a new transmission when I had 70k miles. I had it done under warranty after talking to headquarters.

I'd say do it early before you put too many miles on it. You might get your money back or they might exchange it for another one. Push comes to shove. Park the car in front of the dealer with a big lemon sign and list of problems and what the dealer did. You know you can take your car to another dealer (not the dealer you bought it at). Thier technician could be a specialist of oil changes only:sadcry: .

I had the same "express" window up feature go out. I could hold the button and the window would go up, but the auto up stopped working. this means when I opened my drivers door the window did it's cm down thing, but did not go back up. 60 minutes at the dealer and it was fixed free.

Wow really sounds like a lemon....I have had a few of the problems that you have...the clunk when turning, took it in and they put some kind of bushings on it I think, still clunks tho.... fuel filler...replaced tank and it only happens every once in a while now. Squeaking and grinding on the brakes and the heat not blowing out the bottom. I don't remember what they sed about the heat thing but they wanted to tear my dash out to fix it...I don't think so, cause you know it will rattle like crazy so I am just gonna live with it. The only problem I am going back for is the door handles...they poke out. I have it set up ( after throwing a fit) that wherever my car goes in their shop I go and verify that they are really doing something....My car has alot of aftermarket parts and the service rep in all his stupity ran it through the auto wash...look at my car..he got out holding my antenna in his hand! I was pissed!! As someone stated above print out the TSB's and take them with you...I literally had to shove one in the CS's face because he would not get my car fixed..my baby was built in 04 so I had some problems that they were not aware of even tho there was a TSB. If you have not tried another dealer then do that and if you have then go armed with info cause they know nothing about the cars at all...good luck!!!
