I replaced the turn signal switch (the entire column wiring harness) in my 66 GT. Other than that< the inly thing i did was disconnect the battery in order to replace the switch. Car cranked perfectly before i did this.

After getting the steering wheel put back on and turning the key, the, instead of cranking, the starter solenoid just makes a noise, almost a buzzing sound.

Put the charger on the battery thinking it just got low while disconnected. After a full charge... same thing.

Figured the solenoid just might have coinsidentally went out. Bought a brand new one and replaced it... the new one makes the same noise (the starter doesn't do anything).

Any ideas of what my problem might be, or things I might try to get my stang back on the road?????

THanks for the help-

Check your battery cables. I had the exact same problem and after two solenoids and an ignition switch, it ended up being the positive battery cable connector that I installed over the winter so that I could use a battery tender. The wires inside the connector on the positive cable got surface rust on them and the connector was loosened each time I disconnected it to change the solenoid or work on the electrical system. Get a cable with an integrated connector from an auto parts store, not those cheap red ones from Walmart like I used.
