'66 stang upper ball joint fix?

Hey guys, I needed some input on how to replace my passenger side upper ball joint. If I jack the car up, will the pressure come off the spring or should I compress the spring? Also, how hard is it to actually get the old ball joint out? If anyone could give me a step by step, I'd really appreciate it:smartass:, Thanks. BTW, 302 motor PS
