I have a '69 with a 200 6 cylinder in it. Prior to replacing the wiring harness, we tried starting it, the car turned over, but then stopped with smoke rising from around the battery. After replacing the harness from the firewall on up, we accidentally got it to turn over when we got the two brown wires backwards (lights and selonoid, who had that bright idea?). When I corrected the problem, it wouldn't turn over, which leads me to believe it is a problem from the ignition switch to the firewall. Any ideas?
