I know this may sound trivial but it is an item that is giving me some trouble and I am hoping someone can help me out. I am tryng to replace the sailpanel running horse "medallions" that mount to the outside of the sailpanels on my '69 Mach 1. I have been told that you have to push in and upward and they should slide off. I have tried and have had no luck. I am also quite worried about scratching the paint if the medalliion finally does let go. Should I be using some sort of lubricant to loosen things up? If so, what should I use and will it affect the paint? As always, any help would be greatly appreciated. BTW, I just installed a Champion 3-core aluminum radiator on my ride yesterday. I took the car out last night (80 - 85 degrees F) and the car ran really cool. The real test will come this afternoon when the temperature should be in the mid-nineties.

Thanks in advance,
Richard in Ottawa, Canada

Do you have the new medallions? You can see the keyhole pattern. If memory serves me correctly you simple push them straight up to remove from the metal pins that protrude from the sail panel. No release lubricant should be necessary. You can slide a very thin piece of mylar behind the medallion at the top if you are worried about scratching the paint, but this shouldn't happen as they come off quite easily.
