8" rear gear ratio ?

I have a 68 Fb with 3.00 traction lok rear .............. I'm planning on a stroker kit and some heads , cam etc for the 302 .......... looking for hp in the 350 -450 range .

the car seems pretty hi geared when I drive it now ............. I believe the car was built with 14" tires , it has 15" tires now .......................... toploader 4 speed


what gear ratio would you go to ? .................. I'm thinking 3.80


Can the ring and pinion be changed out DIY ?................. :headscratch: ........................ with a little research and homework of course ??????????? :headscratch::headscratch::scratchchin

Buckhunter - I've got a similar set up currently. I recently swapped to a 3.80 gear and love it. I also have 15" wheels running 235/60r15. I'm currently forging my way through a T5 swap though.

As far as a DIY job... wish I had that level of expertise. I paid 100 to have the third member media blasted, painting and the gear dialed in. It isn't hard to do, but your typical DIYer doesn't have the gauges and press handy.
