im planning on putting a 1984 351w and srod trans out of an 82 mustang gt in to my 86 coupe( I heard the srod is junk but I only paid 100 for the complete setup and plus i want to see how much abuse it can handle) what I needed to know is could i use a damper that is matched with the 50oz flywheel I have or do I need to get a 28 oz flywheel to match the damper thats on the 351, the flywheels casting says its an 81

Flywheel and balancer must match what the engine was balanced for.

So if its a 28oz engine, you need matching 28oz flywheel and balancer. Same for a 50oz setup.
