Hey new member here.. Pretty excited to be here. Anyway I recently just got a 1989 mustang GT vert.. Body is straight motor runs great. The problem is the interior is pretty bad. The top is destroyed the seats have tears and are grey not a big fan.


I am planing on installing new carpet and redoing the interior. I know or so I have SEARCHED and found that you can install 99-04 front seats. I am wondering if the rear seats will also fit? I searched and I can see a lot are saying NO/YES with some modifications. I also read that if its a vert that some rear seats bolt right in.

Can any one clear this up for me? Is there any rear seats from new models that will bolt right in?

Looks good. What year did the rear seats come from? And was it a direct fit? Thanks

Mine are from 86 I had to wiggle mine in cause my cage but other then that no fit problems

Awesome thanks for the info. My carpet is missing so I have access to the bare floor in the car. Should I wash and coat it with some kind of sealer or some thing before replacing the carpet?

I had to replace my whole floor then I put on something that seals the floor im tryen to rem the name once I do I'll let u kno

my floor is in good shape so coat it with por 15 then continue to replace carpet?

why do you want to put new seats in? because you want new seats or just because your old ones are torn. I put new upholstery on mine that I got from cj pony parts for both front and back. it really is not a big deal to replace the upholstery and you can get new foam for them as well.

this is my 89 convertible lx

mine had grey cloth seats in it as well. if the top frame is in good condition you can buy convertible tops from many vendors. we bought mine off ebay and it came with a video that showed how to put it on. If your frame is broken like mine was I got the replacement parts from hydro-e-lectric. anyway good luck.

Id like to get new seats because mine are in pretty bad shape. Also they are grey. My top is a white/tan one which I am switching for a black one. I just thought it would be cool to upgrade to some newer leather seats.
