I know there is a sticky that covers what need to be done, GT40 - Cobra - Explorer - Intake Information

but I have a few questions that I would like to see if someone can help me on.

In the article it states that the middle hole in the intake must be plugged for the EGR coolant return line. If that is plugged will the EGR valve still operate? Will it run hot because of blocked water passage. If one is tapped for the line where does it get tapped? Sorry if these are basic questions but I didn't see any articles that addressed this issue.

GTRapter has a good install post but again this is not addressed. Sorry I'm new to this. I just found an intact 99 Explorer 5.0 at the junkyard today and got all exited lol. It has TB, rails, everything still on it. Will the rails work or do I need to use my stock rails?

I like to have all my ducks in a row before I start a project.

If I block off the EGR won't it pop codes. I already have codes 41 and 91 I can't get rid of. I replaced O2 sensors, checked smog pump and Diverter valve and all are working properly so I'm a little apprehensive about starting something else.

Should I use the stock TB until it gets going and then change to the 65mm unit?

you do not need to block off the whole in the middle of the intake... as long as it has it run your stock egr and tb set up or buy a new one for a fox, use your stock rails and injectors you may need to drill and tap a whole (not sure what size google it) in the #5 runner for the ACT sensor but thats not a big deal. If your picking it up for cheap it wouldnt be a bad idea to buy yourself a port and polish kit from jegs and smooth out the inside I did it to one before my new set up and it does make a difference, definately worth it to buy the intake and spend a few hours witht he port and polish kit
