91 Octane Race Tune

i finally pulled the trigger on a bamachips 91 octane race tune after hearing evenyone rave about throttle response and improved acceleration, and now after installing it i really cant notice any difference in power. throttle response doesnt seem to be any different either, definately not "touchy" as many have described it.

lots have called the tune a night and day difference compared to stock, and although i did not expect such a drastic improvement i at least expected a slightly noticeable gain since this aint a cheap thing

any ideas on why i seem to have had a different experience than the many others out there who say the difference should be noticeable..

btw i have a BBK cold air intake and ford racing dual exhaust that the tune was created for

welcome!

shoulda went 93!

no seriously

i reccomend bama chips and or tillman speed all the time so they will take care of you

my bama tune is intence!

can you give us some more info?
well maybe your tune is running lean?

you should email bama with your complaint, because literally everyone is saying it is night and day difference
Curious do you have an automatic? My 93 race tune from him was intense in first gear all other gears was worse then my stock tune. I would recommend you call him. He never responded to my emails.
it will take time for emails it took mine like a week. but he got it.

yea give him a call he does good work on and after the sale

Lol I sent him 3 emails 4 months ago and I just gave up
my 91 tune in my auto runs darn good. there is no 93 to be found around here.
should have gone with VMP...I bought mine 91 tune one day and two days later had it installed. Justin answers all emails w/n two days - sometimes the same day...and I did notice a big difference in all aspects of performance and I have a CAI too. Suggest going back to the mfr. if you can data log the runs and send them to mfr they can better diagnost the problem...good luck
its just luck of the draw really. i bought a race tune from bama and had it within 60 minutes and on the car. doug, chris rose and others get like 200 emails a day. the day i talked to doug he had 900 emails in his inbox. and it was christmas eve and he was working a long day. imagine the time to go through hundreds of emails, write tunes and run the buisiness,( phone calls ect) sometimes it takes time. :)
try Justin at VMP. He responds quickly and his tunes are very good,he modified mine within days. At first it shifted too hard for me. At the time I was running stock witha CAI. He smoothed it out.
Doug,,well maybe hes a busy manbut he has yet to answer any of my emails. His xcharger tune is lacking somewhere as I am not getting the same OMG results as other Xmen claim. The car seems to just quit pulling at a certain point.
I purchased a Diablo tuner the other day and will have the local dyno guru here do a tune. I feel its better to have a "local" tune rather than canned custom these days because every area of the country has different parameters,,ie sea lvel, high or low alt..etc
But Justin at VMP is much more apt to have what you need and tweak it sooner,if needed ,than is Doug.

P.S> I might be selling the sct tuner;)

I went with a 91 street race, performance, and an 87 performance tune from Tillman. Running the 91 Performance now and it has made a noticeable difference in the sound and off the line pull. My MPG is up about 1 Mpg in town and 2 Mpg on the highway. Others report similar results with competing tunes.
cant comment on the 91 race because i havent tried it, but the 93 race tune is unmistakably more intense than my stock tune. the shifts at full throttle are sporty, the car easily squeals tires pulling of at lights and the overall fun of the car greatly improved. the only thing i can imagine would be different about your tune would be the octane level and the CAI you're running. intakes are all very different, a tune for one will not work with a different brand. i have a JLT cai and cant imagine my car being any more fun without some major addons like nitrous, rear gears or forced induction. maybe you should try something other than BBK?

if its not the intake, it must be the octane. my 87 performance tune feels almost exactly the same as my stock tune
I'm running the BBK CAI and the 92 race tune from BAMA and it's way quick over the stock tune.

You might try reloading the stock tune and then load the race tune again.
I purchased sct x3 from brenspeed with 87, 91 & 93 tunes. I loaded 87 octane and have a noticeabe difference over stock.
Sorry to hear you haven't noticed a difference with your new tune. I have the 93 octane race tune from Bamachips and it is everything they say it is (I have a C&L intake and the FRPP duals). Was your tune a custom one from Doug?

I purchased the 93 torque tune by mistake (wanted the 93 race tune). The 93 torque, in my opinion, wasn't much different from the stock tune. I let Bamachips know I'd screwed up on the order, and Doug switched the 91 race to the 93 race, no charge. Very good and quick service, I might add. :bigthumbsup

Good luck with it! I'm sure you'll get it worked out and will be squealing away from STOP signs in no time!
sorry--I meant Doug switched my 93 torque tune for a 93 race tune...
try reloading tune cause there is a huge difference i have to be very careful leaving a stop sign now :bigthumbsup
If you haven't done it already, disconnect the battery for a few minutes to give the learning part of the computer a chance to reset. If you've been driving your car like a bluehair it'll still perform at less than expectation after the tune until it re-learns how to take advantage of the tune.

Disconnect the battery for a few minutes, then go out and do several wot runs from a stop. The more you do it the more aggressive the car will respond. Had to do that to my father's Mustang to get it to start running right after putting in the tune.

With the 91 race tune in my Mustang I have to be careful not to give it too much throttle when the light turns green or I'll break a tire loose. With the auto tranny it also holds a downshift longer before upshifting which is nice if you have to take your foot off the gas for a second then get on it again.
thanks for the input, i will try disconnecting the battery and reloading it. hopefully that will solve the problem since i think something must have gone wrong the first time. besides the lack of more power, the throttle is the same as always, never any chance of accidentally spinning the tires if im not careful
So did it fix the problem? or did you have t o have doug fix it?
