93 lx 5.0 vs 05 convertable

I was on my way to my dad's work yesterday to show him my brother's new tatoo, it was me driving, my brother in the passenger seat, and my friend in the back seat. I am sitting at a light and up the road about a half mile is my turn, well I look in my rear view mirror and see an 05 convertable comming up bihind me. He had his turn signal on to turn right at the light I was at, so I was like oh. Well, he got beside of me, and looked at me all smug like, and turned off his signal. So when the light turned we hit it, and his being auto, he got me off the line by about 1/8 of his car, then I came flying past him in 1st, barked 2nd, and left him. When I hit 3rd, and 4th i was still pulling on him. When we passed him in 1st my brother yelled see ya out the window at him. When they came flying past me at my turn, they were yelling 5.0, and so I assume they had a v6 which is still rated at more HP than my car is, in 93 5.0s were rated at 205 HP. Then as I was turning I saw him get over to turn around and go back to his turn.

Lol I think the torque from the 5.0 got him:gringreen
205hp. @ 4200 RPM 275tq. @ 3000 RPM
I came across a late model Mach one the other day, we played tag on I 75. He was in front of me, and tried to leave me. Didn't happen. I stayed glued to him, and plenty of pedal left to use. He was at WOT, and I was tapping the gas to show him I had more. As the right lane opened, I passed him on the right, gave him a thumbs up which he returned. Sad thing is, I have no idea how fast we were going. Too much adrenaline.

I think you would've had alot harder time with a GT.

Good kill to you, though! Gotta love the 5.0.
Yeh I understand that I have a wee bit more torque than him, seeing as that is what 5.0s are about, but he still has more HP, than me, and he is the one who wanted to race, I was fine with him turning.
My favorite 5.0 was the '85 gt vert. (I think it was 85)

When I first saw one, I was hooked... Damn fine car!
You should be able to get more hp out of yours, I think...
Well, you can always SC it!:drink:
only in my wildest dreams would I ever get enough money to super or turbo charge it. That is like, my biggest dream other than a very nice old beetle.

My guess he had 3.73s or a 4.10 rearend. I'd take the Mach with a good driver over an 05 as far as performance.

I googled it, and most 1/4 times I see for the 03 Mach (stock) are in the 13.7-14.01 range. The top speed is much higher than what an 05 is listed, 160 vs 145 (governed). The hp is listed at 305. 320 ft lbs torque.
The 05 is 300hp, 320 ft lbs. Both have around the same 1/4 mile times.

I'm a decent driver myself, better than your average Boy Racer punkazz kid by far.

I'm sure if he was modded I wouldn't have pulled him that easy, unless he changed his gearing for 1/4mi. That may explain why he had less top end.

I'm stock, no 'nuthin' yet. But THAT WILL CHANGE!!!:thumbsup :evilchuck :evilchuck

I have a female cousin in Enterprise Alabama that had a completely tricked out old Beetle. Way cool car! For a bug, it was fast. Had suicide doors, stovepipe exhaust, no back seat, just speaker boxes.

I rode in it when Appetite for Destruction was a new release, must've been '88 or so. That was a cool car by any means.:evillol:
Them are my favorite cars, very closely followed by 5.0 mustangs. My first car was a 66 super beetle, but I didnt have the money or time to get it going, I bought it as a fixer up, came with ever part new in box that it needed, and the engine wasnt in it, but I didnt have time for it so I had to sell. Oh how fast it would be with a 2500cc drag engine in it, smokin 5.0s all day.
