Hey guys,

So i have a 94 3.8 5 Spd Man trans Convertible. My computer just recently went out after bout 2 years of trying to push through. The problem i'm having is I don't have the code i need to get a new one and i have a few questions.

1. The car was originally an Automatic but i switched the trans about 4 years ago. I had pulled a computer from the same 94 3.8 the transmission came from but the car never started with it. After some research i saw that you could leave the auto computer and just will have the occasional 'popping' when it thought it had to change gears. No big deal hardly ever happened things were great.

2. The computer that i have now is the one that came with the car when i bought it from the previous owner (later found out it was from impound lot)
The computer is not factory and i can find this code nowhere.

3. I cannot find anywhere, a list of Computer codes (not Trouble codes) for the 94-95. I know the 96-98 are different. I don't know if it matters whether or not the car is a hard top or Convertible top for the computer. all i know is at minimum i need a v6, 5 Spd Man trans, OBDII computer.

If there is any more clarification needed on my end please ask. I am not great on all terminology, but i have a decent over all knowledge of this model mustang.

OBII wasn't effective until 1996. I'm sure you need a 94-95 computer. However I'm not sure this will help without changing the CCRM and harnesses. 94-95 are odd years like the 99-mid 01. 10-11. Seems to be common for Ford to make changes mid gen

I understand that OBII wasn't until 1996 however, i can assure you it is in my car. the reasoning why exactly i couldn't tell you but it is. Its been in CA is whole life (to my knowledge) with the exception of having it shipped up to NY with me at my current duty station in Aug 2015.

I have a list of computers on $Rock Auto i'm looking at but i don't know which one i need. There are about 6 different codes per computer. I already have a new CCRM in as of July 2015.

I needed a new PCM for my '96, 3.8L manual. I was told that I needed it for an early '96 manual. Don't know the differences though. So it appears that they may have had at least a couple PCM's that year.
