i rebuilt the bottom end with new crank and and now when i start it up it skips and drivers side glows red. could it be the timing out and firing fuel at wrong stoke? thanks for help

I'd think if it was cam timing then you would have this problem on both sides.

Have you tried reading the plugs?

Easy way to check for clogged cats is to remove the 02 sensor ahead of the cat in question (to release the pressure), then run the engine and see what happens.

fixed was bad coil pack not firing cyl 5 now i have a knocking when cold but down about 60% when heated. only when pressure is added when taking off under load.any ideas?
