I have a 1996 Mustang GT with Bassani Catted X, MAC catback exhaust, SR CAI and SCT tune, 3.27 gears, Tokico HP series shocks and struts. I dont want to get UDPs becuase of my subs and I just got a new OEM alternator, so I dont want to have to replace it again. What should I get as the next performance upgrade? Besides PI heads...

3.73 gears, subframe connectors, if it's a 5spd a Pro 5.0 shifter...
I'd also put "Cobra brakes" on the list and tire/wheel upgrade...

Were the intakes different also for PI? Maybe simpler/cheaper than PI heads and still give a worthwhile improvement? Not an expert just throwing it out there.

Yes. The PI intake alone is typically worth a solid 15rwhp improvement, and you'll also notice that your NPI engine will no longer fall flat on it's ass after 3900 rpm. The NPI heads aren't great in stock trim, but the fundamental fault in the induction system is that manifold. PI intake costs around $220 and can be installed in the course of a Saturday afternoon. Definitely worthwhile.

+5820575821 to 4.10 gears. Unless you're planning on a positive displacement blower don't bother with 3.73.

I agree with the above ^^^ . The PI intake however doesn't match well to the NPI heads , requires some rtv sealant patching plus the PI heads nicely bump the compression ratio on the NPI block . Instaed of swapping to the PI cams it would be a great time to bump up to a nice set of stage1 cams and LT's .

First off, this will help a lot: http://www.allfordmustangs.com/forums/4-6l-talk/400097-general-sn-95-info.html

If you want cheap power the gears are first by far. PI swap would be your next best bet. Numbers vary, but the HP gains are split pretty evenly at 15hp for the intake, 15hp for the cams, and 15hp for the heads. So 45 plus some change from the boost in compression.

If you wanted to go a slightly different route, you could do what I'm doing and port the NPI heads and swap in the PI cams and intake. Ported NPI heads outflow PI heads.

But gears will give you the most immediate gains. I hugely vow for H&R lowering springs too. They improved my ride feel a lot.

Thanks for the info. I dont want gears right now as this is my Daily driver and there is snow where i live... dont need to end up in any ditches. But ya it is a 5 speed so short throw might be my next upgrade.. What about bigger fuel injectors? I don't know much about upgraded fuel injectors what do you guys think?

Your stock fuel injectors are fine for now. Larger capacity injectors won't be necessary unless/until you have upgraded heads/cams/intake, and even then you would probably only need 24lb/hr squirters (vs. the 19's you currently have) at the most.

Go with the shifter. All of them are better than stock, but Steeda and MGW (I have the Steeda) tend to be the favorites in this crowd.

I've not heard so much as a bad wisper about Pro5.0.

In fact, this is one of very few parts for our cars where you can't go wrong no matter what. Compared to the sloppy stock pos, they are all winners.
