Hey whats up everyone I was just wondering about heads and cams for my 98 gt. Is ford racing the only place that makes heads for my car (the pi ones) or is their another place because i haven't found any :sosad:. Also what cam do you guys reccomend ? and on a side note does anyone know if 03-04 cobra engines are available to buy as i have another project car that i would like to drop that engine into. Thanks

Several places (FRPP dealers) can get you factory, assembled PI heads complete w/cams (around $355 each) ready to bolt on as well as sell you the intake, and the head changing kit. EBay is an okay source as well. Places such as VT Engines, Foxlake Racing, Patriot Performance, Parkway Performance (Ford Dealer), GEF Racing, DSS, can sell you OEM parts as well as CNC ported heads, aftermarket cams, etc. For a mild street motor, several of us like the Comp Cams 262AH - of course there are other choices but careful not to 'overcam' just because you want something that sounds like a Pro Stock car. The PI cams are NOT the worst street cams, even in ported heads if money is an issue though they'd sort of run out of steam just when good heads start making power. The default article on the headswap is here:http://www.bossracing.net/Tech Articles/Tech Articles.htm If you've just started looking into this, you could also try to scrounge up a good pair of the Ford SVO heads - flow real nice & don't raise the compression ratio as the PI heads will (PI swap on stock lower end means premium fuel for sure). The SVO heads new are verrrrrry pricey. Or, you could just have the stock NPI heads ported, run a set of Comp 262Hs (not AH), swap the really awful stock NPI intake to the PI intake and make a big difference in performance. Some pics of the various pieces in my Gallery. 96-98's also have pretty restrictive mid-pipes (H-pipes) Some folks look at the total for doing head swap and decide just to find a good deal on a later (PI) motor to swap in. Lots of choices for you. On a NPI car, swapping the mid-pipe & cat-back, adding some gears, and doing even just the PI intake swap would make a big difference that you'd certainly feel.

Might be able to find various Cobra motors here:
