·I bought my 2012 Mustang from Koon's Ford in Falls Church, VA. After owning the car for over a year, having my car hit while parked 4 times and having their body shop do the repairs (I will pick my car up today from the latest damage), I thought a positive dealership experience thread would be nice, since virtually every time someone discusses a dealership it's very negative.
First, my purchasing experience was rather funny. I knew exactly what car I wanted, the specific options and price. I called the dealership after pricing it out on the web, figuring out what my trade-in value should be, and also figuring out my finance terms and payments based on what I was willing to pay for the car. When I called the dealership, the Sales Manager answered the phone, and he told me that I would need to order what I wanted, and to come in that evening.
Well, I drove to the dealership that evening, and parked right out front was exactly the car that I wanted.....other than having a different color interior and heated seats I didn't want, which was absolutely no big deal. The Sales Manager obviously knew he had the car when we spoke on the phone, so he had it washed, prepped, gassed-up and ready for a test drive, so when I pulled up it was sitting right outside the front door....smart guy. I had all the financial numbers calculated to the penny, and the Sales Manager did the deal with the numbers exactly as I had figured them, while also including the heated seats....so that was good.
When I had the dreaded suspension creak, their service department had a tough time figuring out what the hell the problem was, because the symptoms were not like all the other LCA issues folks have reported here. Mine didn't make a noise going over a bump, it did it while accelerating from a stop....a popping noise. But they figured it out and fixed it. When they aligned the car, they scratched 3 of the 4 wheels on the car, and I myself had done some very minor curb damage to the 4th. The service manager had all four of the wheels repainted to like-new condition for me, and did not charge me for re-painting the wheel I had damaged, which was fair.
The body shop has now fixed my car 4 times. None of the damage was really anything more than cosmetic, although the drivers front fender has now been replaced twice. Each time the car has looked pretty damn good, apart from some orange peel in the clear coat which needs to be wet-sanded after the fresh clear-coat has cured for a month or so. So, a month from now, I will take the car back and have them wet-sand the entire left side of the car, where all the damage has occured. I hadn't had the chance to let them wet-sand the rear-quarter panel from the last time the car was hit, before this last damage occured, so they'll do the whole thing at one time.
I have not had a really positive ownership experience with my car due to it being hit 4 times, but the folks at the Koon's Ford and their body shop have been wonderful with me. When you consider how frustrating this car has been for the first 16 months, only the service I have gotten from Koon's has kept me from trading it in on a used Yugo.
I know most folks post about their frustrating dealership experiences, but my dealership has done right by me.
