i know this has been covered before, but i couldnt come to a valid conclusion on what type to use in my thunderstang or if i should use it at all. i remember reading about that they dont make the kind everyone was using in gas turbo motors, what should i do. ive heard such good things about using rotella as far as the heat and how clean it keeps everything.

thanks- jon

There is a lot of discussion on it at turboford. Basically it comes to a opion of using oil with zinc. Either as additive or in oil. The reason brought up is oil of aux shaft and distributor gear.
Now my opion. I am using vr-1 racing oil in the MG. The MG has the same basic setup. I have had priming oil pressure problems on it. [I guess sit too much] Since changing oil no problems. Next oil changing I am using it in the turbo car. Maurice

In my old Turbo Coupe I used dino oil, Mobil 1, and Royal Purple at different times. I never saw any difference between them...oil temps were always the same, and oil pressure was always the same.

I've never used the Rotella diesel oil (well, except in my truck). I've heard it's great if you have a regular flat tappet cam, but isn't really necessary otherwise. I had an A237 roller cam so I wasn't worried about it.

BTW: I never had aux shaft gear issues on my car. Never understood why some people do and some don't.
