I need to upgrade the safety on my car and was thinking about ABS. Can I put Anti-Lock Brakes in my '73 Mustang?

There is no kit i know of and only spindles that have abs won't work with a early mustang. The fox body and up don't have a upper a arm its strut on spindle design. The crown vic the steering arms are in the wrong place to work.If your willing to one off every part almost it could be done. But why abs I have unhooked it on some of the newer cars because i hated feeling the brake pedal bounce around under my foot trying to stop in rain.Do you have front disc 3 point seat belts already?
I don't have front disks or 3-points yet, but they are first on my list. Thanks again for the insight.
Yeah i would add those and you should be fine. What abs really does is stop you from locking up the brakes and the car sliding in to something.Once you learn how much grab your brakes have in dry and wet roads you should be fine with out it.I learned to drive in a 54 chevy belair even with all drums i never wreck it but i always left a lot of rooms to stop just in case.
I called ford today because I was having issues with my 2007 mustang wheels locking up when I hit the breaks hard. It turns out that on the new mustangs, ABS is an option you only get when you get the trac lock option. Apparently the two are integrated. (Now I am thinking of selling it and buying a new camaro or dodge challenger)I told the guy that I can hit the brakes harder with my 72 mustang which has 4 wheel manual drum brakes, and it doesnt lock up anywhere as easy as the 2007 does. Who would have thought that 1972 manual drum brakes felt safer than 2007 4 wheel disc brakes? You have a couple choices. Upgrade to better brake pads, or change to disc brakes with or without manual brake setup. But adding abs would require an entire computer system to run the sensors, if you can find discs that fit the car and have them installed. Dont forget that some of the ford granadas came with a 9 inch rear end with rear disc brakes. And its a direct bolt in. If I were you and wanted to upgrade I would change it over to front and rear discs on a manual setup, before deciding you need to go to power brakes.
The Granada 9 inch is kinda too short for a 71-73 its a great fit on a 64-66 car tho.
