Acceleration

I have a 2000, manual transmision with 90k miles on it and i was just wondering if it was normal for when i start going from a stop that in first gear my acceleration is kinda slow until i get to around 2000 rpms and then thats when i really start to accelerate. is this normal?? THANKS

I have a 99 manual with 96K miles, I haven't noticed any slow acceleration. You're always going to accelerate slower at lower RPM's, that's kind of a given. When I "race" I always give it some gas before I let off the clutch, not too much, don't wanna burn up my tires. It's maybe all on your timing letting off the clutch and giving it gas. If you slowly get into gear though, and you're at low RPM's, again, you're not going to speed up fast until you hit higher RPM's.
