How are you guys getting 20, 21, 22, 23 mpg!!?? I have 12,000 miles on my GT and I'm averaging 17.5 mpg. I also have shorty headers, off-road x-pipe and Borla cat-back. But even w/o the off-road x-pipe, I was only at 18.2 mpg.
I get 18 in town. I have gotten as high as 29 on a 200 mile trip. GT manual transmission.

I dont know where you live, but the GTOs do nto sit on lots here in Tennesse, or when I was in Ohio, or Georgia.

I can think of many reasons why the F-body is gone and the Mustang is here. It is defiantely not because the mustang was faster 3 years ago. :sterb:

How Successful would the Mustang be today if it was still rolling ont he 79 Chassis? I woudln't have bought one. The consumer didn't kill the F-body, GM did by not updating it.
I spent 3 months on a job in San Diego. Every day I drove by a Pontiac dealer that still in April-June had 2 04 GTOs on the lot along with 3 05s. All 5 of them sat there on the lot the whole time I was there.

P.S. the reason that the Mustang outlived the F-body is because then and now it was more bang for the buck. A $30,000 310 hp vs.a $21,000 260 hp car that was nearly as fast and for half the difference could be faster. What would you pick?
