2 things guys. 1- What's the true ave. gas mileage for the GT. I just dont believe that it's 21 for an 8 cyl. American car. Also, how does it feel to see a car like an STI fly by on the highway, and know that there's no way to handle/perform at that level? I want a GT sooo badly, but people assure me that I wouldn't be happy with the performance. Thanks.

I've yet to be blown away by an sti, I frequently play with one that a guy from my work drives. I don't smoke him from the line, but I do hang, and by 4rth have caught or passed him. Take your trolling to the road.:sterb:

Plenty of Mags out there posted sub 13.3 times for those. If you want to magazine race, I have an issue of GM High Tech Performance and they put a set of slicks on a boe stock 98 and ran a 12.9. 00-02 have more power. So figure a 12.7

Under $30K and only cost $400 for the slicks and Bam... first car under $30K to run 12s... adjusted for inflation.

There is just no way that an 05 Mustang GT is faster than a LS1. :handball:

GTO's just don't sell well in this area. I've seen only a few on the road. I bet it's better to move them off the lot then let them take up floor space and inventory.

Actually, market wise they performed up to GM's expectations for the 05 model year. Markups were the problems with the 04's.

GM has priced them too high. When they did the Employee pricing the first month, the GTO was on it. Then, they had to take it of the subsequent moths because they were sellign too many and realized they could still reach their targets at MSRP.

You have to remember with the GTO its not about volume... at most they can make 18,000 per year. That is nothing in todays automotive productions. So, yes... you have to pay a premium to own a GTO over what the market dictates. I chose not to pay the preimium the GM, and not the dealers, are asking for.

Like I said, supply and DEMAND.

Nobody is demanding a goat.
Wait till the Shelby Cobra comes out, I highly doubt it'll sit rusting on the lot like the goats are...And several Vipers I've seen....
And, it will not be a status symbol for older middle aged guys like the vette... It'll be a muscle car for muscle car types.

I spent 3 months on a job in San Diego. Every day I drove by a Pontiac dealer that still in April-June had 2 04 GTOs on the lot along with 3 05s. All 5 of them sat there on the lot the whole time I was there.

P.S. the reason that the Mustang outlived the F-body is because then and now it was more bang for the buck. A $30,000 310 hp vs.a $21,000 260 hp car that was nearly as fast and for half the difference could be faster. What would you pick?

Your seeing those goats mirrors mine here in Tampa, but there are several more in the area (Dade City, Zephyrhills, St. Pete.) They are just NOT in demand. I mean, really, look at them. I don't care if they give gold bricks along with them....
