Actual Gas milage/GT or STI- seriously.

2 things guys. 1- What's the true ave. gas mileage for the GT. I just dont believe that it's 21 for an 8 cyl. American car. Also, how does it feel to see a car like an STI fly by on the highway, and know that there's no way to handle/perform at that level? I want a GT sooo badly, but people assure me that I wouldn't be happy with the performance. Thanks.

There was actually more than just price that went into my choice of purchase.

I love my Stang, but I wish it had more power... Im working on that :winks

GTO's just don't sell well in this area. I've seen only a few on the road. I bet it's better to move them off the lot then let them take up floor space and inventory.
gto'S DON'T SELL well anywhere but Australia...

Maybe the power of a free market economy is speaking here, you know supply and DEMAND......

Actually, market wise they performed up to GM's expectations for the 05 model year. Markups were the problems with the 04's.

GM has priced them too high. When they did the Employee pricing the first month, the GTO was on it. Then, they had to take it of the subsequent moths because they were sellign too many and realized they could still reach their targets at MSRP.

You have to remember with the GTO its not about volume... at most they can make 18,000 per year. That is nothing in todays automotive productions. So, yes... you have to pay a premium to own a GTO over what the market dictates. I chose not to pay the preimium the GM, and not the dealers, are asking for.

Wow, Ford must have paid some serious cash to advertise in that Magazine.

Im sorry and LS1 Z28 running a 13.8?:eyebulge:

Who was driving that thing... my grandma?

Plenty of Mags out there posted sub 13.3 times for those. If you want to magazine race, I have an issue of GM High Tech Performance and they put a set of slicks on a boe stock 98 and ran a 12.9. 00-02 have more power. So figure a 12.7

Under $30K and only cost $400 for the slicks and Bam... first car under $30K to run 12s... adjusted for inflation.

There is just no way that an 05 Mustang GT is faster than a LS1. :handball:
A 310 HP Z pulling 12's stock? doubt it.
Kyle F. is right ,stock for stock with the same driver running both the LS1 and the new Mustang , the LS1 would be faster !
SS traps at 107-110 stock , there is no Mustang trapping anywhere close to that !
MM&FF November 2001 tested a SS Camaro and ran a best 12.96 at 107.43 , and 13.06 at 108.71 , 13.08 at 107.67 ,100%"STOCK" price of this beast 29g`s ! they also said they ran a LS1 a few years back and ran 12.89 at 108 !
This is with Evan Smith at the wheel ! alittle above the avg. driver !

After switching to Mobil 1 synthetic, I got 345 miles on one tank (345/15 gal=23mpg) Mostly highway, of course, at around 70 mph average.

As for the STI, what's that?

Ummm, maybe it pulls harder later. But we were talking 0-60, I think. Slicks will give any RWD car a noticable improvement in the quarter. And GM seems to over-rate their cars, where I have seen Ford under-rate theirs. Car and Driver especially favors GM . An example of Ford advertising the stang 0-60 in like 5.1 then it was done by Motor Trend at 4.9. GM quit making the F-body for a reason. Also, the stang is still around for a reason. Ponder that thought.

Like I said, supply and DEMAND.

Nobody is demanding a goat.
Wait till the Shelby Cobra comes out, I highly doubt it'll sit rusting on the lot like the goats are...And several Vipers I've seen....
And, it will not be a status symbol for older middle aged guys like the vette... It'll be a muscle car for muscle car types.

The sti is an uuuuuuuuugggggleeeeee
rice-burner thatis extremely cheaply made, and very overpriced. They are fast, but that alone doesn't justify buying a cheap feeling piece of plasticrap to me.....
Has anyone checked on a 2 year old sti's resale value?:laughlitt
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!! Ya'll go see it for yourselves! You'll laugh, alot.

I dont know where you live, but the GTOs do nto sit on lots here in Tennesse, or when I was in Ohio, or Georgia.

I can think of many reasons why the F-body is gone and the Mustang is here. It is defiantely not because the mustang was faster 3 years ago. :sterb:

How Successful would the Mustang be today if it was still rolling ont he 79 Chassis? I woudln't have bought one. The consumer didn't kill the F-body, GM did by not updating it.

I spent 3 months on a job in San Diego. Every day I drove by a Pontiac dealer that still in April-June had 2 04 GTOs on the lot along with 3 05s. All 5 of them sat there on the lot the whole time I was there.

P.S. the reason that the Mustang outlived the F-body is because then and now it was more bang for the buck. A $30,000 310 hp vs.a $21,000 260 hp car that was nearly as fast and for half the difference could be faster. What would you pick?

He's already said he'd pick the GMpoop if available.....

Your seeing those goats mirrors mine here in Tampa, but there are several more in the area (Dade City, Zephyrhills, St. Pete.) They are just NOT in demand. I mean, really, look at them. I don't care if they give gold bricks along with them....

Not to mention it looks just like a riced out Cavalier
When I called it a rear wheel drive Grand Prix with a V8 the salesman didn't have a reply to it. He acted like he knew I was right and had no counter reply.
You were right......GP with a v8....

This vehicle has never had any paint or body work and is free of rust. The vehicle has a clean title history and will pass a smog and safety inspection. The engine compartment is clean, with no fluid leaks and is free of any wear or visible defects. The vehicle also has complete and verifiable service records. Less than 5% of all used vehicles fall into this category.

Trade-In ValueList Your Car For Sale Online $18,650 Trade-in Value is what consumers can expect to receive from a dealer for a trade-in vehicle assuming an accurate appraisal of condition. This value will likely be less than the Private Party Value because the reselling dealer incurs the cost of safety inspections, reconditioning and other costs of doing business.

I tried to pull for a 2005 Mustang GT, but they only list the V6 coupe.
