This is my first time in a forum so bear with me. I found an aftermarket hood that i really like. Wanted some feedback before i make my decision to buy it. I own an 07 gt, and was wondering about this particular company. Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks!!!

have heard a lot of bad things about trufibers quality and fitment, enough that when i ordered my new hood 4 days ago i went with a kaenan cowl hood. if i hadnt went with kaenan, i would have went with cervinis. both IMHO are the best hoods out there for our cars.:bigthumbsup

cervinis has a ram air hood like that trufiber one too...."Type IV" i believe the call it...

Search trufiber hood quality and you will see some horrible quality; this should be a $50 hood for all the prep it takes. Unfortunately the Cervini hood scoops don't extend out nearly as far, but the poster above was dead on about your quality choices.

There are a lot of guys on here with trufiber hoods. Lets hear from some of those guys what are your thoughts? I also want to get a hood and have a kaenen 4 " cowl on my 91 coupe. And they are top notch.

But they dont sell the style I want.

I DO have a Trufiber hood... GTS-3 and really like it.
Mine required alil prep work, but what hood doesn't??

I'm really happy w/ mine, but there is always better quality
somewhere. I know pics cant always show complete quality, but
feel free to judge from some of my gallery pics. :bigthumbsup

yes the hood looks fantastic. ive heard a few people say that trufiber while cheaper will still be just as expensive after the prepwork, and my body work skills are less than novice, so i will be taking somewhere to be shot. So i figured i would come to place where i can find out, thats where you guys com in. :)

The thing about body kits and parts is that every part will be a bit different when. Some companies do tend to have a more consistant result than others, but due to the materials that are being worked with (not metal) no 2 will be exactly alike. I haven't heard of any major issues with trufiber parts. What you need to look for with a hood is a metal latch, but if you intend of doing any highspeed runs near 100mph hood pins are a must. I have seen countless ramair hood showing lift at speed.

bottom line is that the hood your looking at is $650 with shipping. cervinis with the frieght calculated to illinois is the same price. so price really isnt the issue here. its quality vs style.

unless you just absolutely hate the cervinis being a little shorter, i would go with what is known to just about everyone here, that cervinis is top of the line quality. i can pretty much guarantee you that the hood will fit as good as a fiberglass hood possibly can and will have the best finish of any hood out there. never heard of anyone having an issue with cervinis, have heard of many with trufiber.

but, you need to go with the style you like too. if YOU dont like it, it doesnt matter how good it is.

i went with the kaenan hood over the cervinis because i liked the way the hood tapers down at the front, cervinis is more square and doesnt flow as well with the cars lines IMHO. i consider kaenan and cervinis to be of equal quality, but if kaenan wasnt as high quality, i still would have bought it over the cervinis due i liked the style better. a good bodyshop can work out the quality issues. (unless the hood is just complete garbage, which trufiber is not, its decent, just not high quality)

hoods are an expensive investment, one you want to get right the first time so take your time deciding. i took 6 months to think about it.:yup:

I only have experience with the steeda race cowl but I can tell you it's the sheit. It weighs 9lbs lighter than the factory hood and keeps underhood temps within 5 degrees of ambient and is excellent fitment. So it works and it's light and it looks bad ass. I get complements on it all the time. I would have went Cervini if I didn't go with Steeda. Only because the research I did on the net have excellent results for them and I haven't found a complaint yet. That doesn't mean Trufiber or Kaenan is bad. I don't remember anything other than Cruizin Concepts sells knockoff Cervini hoods, and you get what you pay for as a general rule. I can only vouch for Steeda, simply because I own it.

fyi, Kaenan made your Steeda cowl......they make Steedas wings too, and have for some time.:winks

unfortunately for the OP, they dont make a KR style Ram air hood (least not that ive seen) so he is stuck between Cervinis and Trufiber

Sometime you will think you have your mind made up only to decide on something totally different in the end. Good luck sorting through all the options. Just remember don't worry about what someone else thinks when it comes to how something looks; it's your car and your money. You are the only one that maters.:bigthumbsup

it is expensive, ive had my car since december 05 and have done good to make payment many times. you just have to save and shop around. up until now, all my mods i found cheap.

CAI - craigslist - $80 (guy drilled too big a hole in the aluminum tube for N20 and thought he ruined it, i knew i could fix it, i did with a brass pipe fitting and and a tap and dye set:winks, functions fine and looks great)

Predator - amazon.com - $100.00 guy wrecked his 05 vortech Gt, sold tuner for it. it was unlocked. even though i cant use vortech tunes, it holds 5 custom ones, so i called Bama. $75 for 3 tunes:winks

hurst shifter - had $30 off coupon for rpm outlet when the hurst first came out. paid $140.

mac boomtubes - traded some other parts for them that i got given to me, basically free, guy on here who lives in calif kept getting tickets, so he was eager to get rid of them and wanted my suspension parts that i didnt need instead:winks

cowl hood, sequentials, and gears insurance is paying for....they just dont know it;)

i got 4 kids myself and im just middle class income.... it takes time, patience, and shopping around!

far as performance vs visual, go with what you want, which are you least happy with, the cars performance or looks?

You start where YOU want to start, nowhere else. If you want to make it look better, start with visuals. If you want more speed, start with performance. If you want a pumpin' audio system, do that.

Some have visuals, nothing else. Ditto for performance mods. Some have both. Some have done nothing and don't want to, and are here just to learn about maintenance and troubleshooting.

Modding is an individualistic thing - only you can decide what direction you wanna take your car :bigthumbsup

im good on audio. i have shaker 1000 and i love it, except for a few rattles lol. ford really nailed the audio. mach 460 was good this is much better lol. you guys are right tho lots of choices. i want to start with exhaust first actually. i have the mustang, now it needs to sound like one. i like borla stingers. does just mufflers make a big difference or does it need the hi flo catted x pipe too?

I don't know about mufflers but my car was slower when I put hi-flow cats on it. I bought the car it had no cats. I know mufflers CAN make a difference. At stock hp, I couldn't possibly imagine over a 5 hp gain. Cats on the other hand do make a slight difference, especially going to a xpipe. That was seat of the pants feel. Never dyno'd.
