Well . . . I spent some quality time with the guy at SVT Performance . . . and we decided to go ahead and do the blower. Either going Vortech or Paxton, plus tuning the system.

Guess I better order up those drag radials!!!!!!!!!! :drink:

uhh ohh hes got the itches for speed :laughlitt
Yep . . I do have the itch. It's just not as much fun winning at the track with the slowest car . . . lol.

The charger is step one. New engine to come later . . . suspension mods . . . body kit . . yada yada yada . . . :eyepoppin
hehe the addiction only gets worse...you know its bad when you start to own more than one mustang
More than one is the plan, actually. I want to build a drag car with a mid 80s notchback. Best thing is . . . I can put the name of my business on it and it becomes an "advertising expense" . . . complete write off :hihi:
Have you looked into Kenne-Bell twin screw blowers? That's what I'd do if I had the money. More power with less boost (they more efficient). I'd look into it man! They have some good article's on their website.

How about 496HP at 12.5psi!!!

This is a cool link about NA vs KB supercharged!

Thanks, Hechtrod . . . I'll check it out!!:drink:
well if your looking to go cheep there is a powerdyne 9 lbs. on ebay about 17 left on the bid and it was going for $1000 no reserve with only 400 miles on it.
Thanks, Don. But . . . I'm gonna have the shop do the whole deal. This guy backs up his work and has a good reputation . . . I'll end up dropping more money, but this guy is gonna tweak the shinola out of it . .. :winks
The mechanic is suggesting a Vortech system that is tuned after the install, He says he likes the Vortech because we can add a cooler to it later and that the cooler uses water instead of air. I live in Arizona . . . so air doesn't cool that much.

Anyway, I'm waiting for him to call me with specs and prices.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!
Well . . . the order is in. He's gonna do the whole shot. Vortech blower (9 pound boost) 24 lb. injectors, appropriate fuel pump, new chip, 90mm MAF, dynoed and tuned!!!

Here's to faster ETs!!!!!!!!!!!! :drink:
any clue on how much it is going to cost for all of it, including installation and tuning? I would like to know.
Here's the whole deal:

Vortech Tuner Kit (V1 Blower)
24 lb injectors
255 lph fuel pump

Wow, that should be a sweet running car! You've got stock heads and stock intake mani right? I'd love to hear the dyno results, see some pictures of the install, and see new 1/4 mile times. :) You better get some sticky meats for the strip.

What are the specs for how much HP/TQ with your new setup? $5400 doesn't seem too bad, especially with all the labor involved and all the parts and dyno tune. The tune will be the best thing for that car. Sounds cool, I'm jealous! :) Let us know the progress...when is it getting installed.

It should all go in next week. I'll post pics . . and try to get some during the process. It should take my times down into the high 13s. But, I'm gonna need to put the drag radials on.

I'll post as much info about it as I can.

The nice thing is that everything that is being done is with an eye toward the future . . and the future holds a stroker motor, a 6 speed, and so on.

By the way . . anybody know where I can get a 5 point NHRA approved roll bar? I would prefer one that is removeable . . if there is such a thing.
So, stroker eh? 327 (331), 342 (347)??? What heads and intake mani are you thinking. For price, you can't go wrong with GT40P and Explorer 5.0 manifolds. But, AFR's would be killer! Just takes money!

Prolly going 347 with the AFRs . . . we are still working on what is going to be the best package for a combination of insane speed and streetability.

This car is my daily driver, and I'm not going to get too nuts until I build my drag car (which will be a late 80s to early 90s notchback)
are the 24lbs injectors going to be big enough with that settup?
I'm not sure if he's going 24 or 30 . . . But, he will use the right ones.

hey man, just something to think about... TURBO. i guarentee youll get waay more power out of a turbo for 5400$ then you will a supercharger. if thats your budget, go with a turbo kit from a company such as hp performance- http://www.turbochargedpower.com/ they make very high quality kits that come with EVERYTHING, from jet hotted hot parts to an electric fan, fuel pump, injectors, MAF, everything. turbos also put a lot less stress on your engine, and youll be very satisfied with power output. for all the info you could ever want, go to www.turbomustangs.com. now i probably sound totally against the supercharger idea-im not. im just saying, turbo power is where its at. my best advice- make sure ya do plenty of research before dropping lots of coin :yup:
