I installed a "Classic Air" AC unit in my 1965 Mustang. The instructions sucked. One thing they supplied in the kit that they absolutely didn't mention in the instructions was a roll of what looks like some sort of tar based insulation tape. It's about 1 1/4" wide. A friend suggested this is used to insulate one of the AC hoses.

Anyone know what this tape is used for?:scratchchin

a/c

this tape is made to insulate the cold lines (sucction part of the a/c uinit, probably the one located inside the car, it avoid the condensation of the humidity inside the car, so you have to insulat the 2 pipes from the fire wall (inside part) to the evaporateur (real name for the inside car part, it look like a heater rad)the 2 tubes will become cold and make water dripping inside if you dont insulat them, ant other question? just ask, that's my trade,
hope it help

Thanks Michel!

The two lines coming through the fire wall are rubber but have a few inches of metal line just before the fittings. This is one of those under dash evap deals. I should be able to wrap them without any problems.

It get pretty hot here. Lots of humidity! Also, I drive to places like Dallas Texas and Tampa Florida in the summer. That's why I installed the AC in the first place!
