I did some searching on this forum about air filters and didn't come up with what I was looking for. Is Wix a good air filter? I want to replace mine but cannot find anyone who sells MC air filters except for the dealer. There are a bunch of brands to chose from, but I DO NOT want a K&N or FRAM.

Personally I like the dry filters like AFE or AEM, no oily mess and good filtration. I checked my AFE drop in after 5k miles and the outside pleats/cloth were a little dirty (as they should be) and the inside pleats/cloth were clean, so it looks like not much dirt or dust is making it past the first layer. My MAF sensor and intake tube were clean too.

OEM still probably filters the best. I wouldn't go with the oiled filters just because it isn't worth the hassle or the extra amount of air you get, for the amount of dirt/dust that is let in (which actually probably isn't that much).

Good Luck with your search. Personally if I were you I would just get the Motor craft one and be done with it. No need to stress over air filters. :)

On the way home I stopped by the local Ford dealer and picked the MC up for $24. That's kinda pricey, but I like to stick with OEM parts. In the past and on various cars I have spent close to $400 for K&N oiled crap. What a waste. Tonight I threw 2 old ones from my former 2003 and 2006 Crown Vics in the trash.
