Hello. I knew here and have a mustang problem and was wondering if someone could give me a hand. I turn the key over and all power is there but when I turn it to crank, nothing. Where would you start. It's a 1990 5.0 LX
I'd check your negative battery cable first. Check for corrosion. You might want to remove it and clean it and the post with a wire brush or steel wool. Also, check the other end of the negative cable for the same corrosion.
Check your battery voltage as well. If necessary, you might have to remove it to take it to AutoZone or some place like that, that will check it for you.
If all of that is in order, you might have a bad starter solenoid, which is not hard to replace.
Finally, and least likely, you could need a starter.
One old school method is to gently tap on the solenoid as a friend turns the key to "break free" the solenoid. This method may get you started a few times, but you'll need to replace it if this method works.
