AM 2011 Mustang GT: Prototype CAI & Dyno Tune - Huge Power Gains!

At AmericanMuscle, we're Mustang people. We support do-it-yourselfers by offering tech articles, installation guides, and now product information and real-world results for the 2011 Mustang.

Once our Bama Custom Tuning team got their hands on our 2011 5.0 GT, they couldn't wait to get started installing and testing the exclusive prototypes we've been helping develop. We can't tell you about all of them yet, but there is one we can share with you--a prototype C&L CAI. Think a custom tune and a CAI can't give you impressive hp gains? Think again. Here's our dyno breakdown:

· Stock – no modifications: 363RWHP / 331RWTQ
· Factory tune, Prototype C&L cold air intake: 374RWHP / 338RWTQ
· Bama Custom Tune, stock Airbox: 379RWHP / 357RWTQ
· Bama Custom Tune, Prototype C&L cold air intake: 385RWHP / 362RWTQ

All tunes are not created equal, check out our blog (with video!) here to see why Bama Custom Tunes are ahead of the curve.

You are showing 22HP peak gain.Pretty dang good.

What about tuners that are reporting closer to 400whp (with baselines runs reported around 367whp).

How are they getting higher peak numbers, dyno charts with videos of the runs, and 1/4 mile ET's with 116-117mph trap speeds (on video) to prove their claims? What are you doing differently that they are to gain additional performance over what you are reporting?

Can we get that type of action, videos and 1/4 ET runs from your products to compare?

I have a 2007 GT with the C&L and it is awesome, BTW.

Keep in mind, our car is an Automatic, so that will lower the horsepower numbers a little bit. As for the trap speeds and 1/4 mile ET's, we've only tested the car BONE STOCK with STOCK TIRES on STOCK PRESSURE and went 13.0 @ 110mph. This is in line with other vehicles, and I have yet to see another truly bone stock auto run with stock tire pressures. If you let some air out of the rear tires, you can usually get 12.90's out of it.

We will have some more exclusive modifications out as well as track times, but unfortunately we are working exclusively with MM&FF for an article that will prevent us from going too far into detail.

However, we will be sending out some dyno results and testing new products on video, for sure!

Oh, it' an A6 trans?

Ok. That makes sense.

I could see an extra 10whp from a M6 tranny which puts it right on the money with the other cars that were tested with M6 trans getting closer to 400rwhp.

13.0 @ 110mph on an Auto stock is expected.

Hopefully we'll see your tune and intake combo put this another .3-.4 seconds quicker down the track than stock with another 3+mph trap.

Test #'s can always fluctuate depending on atmospheric conditions (as you already well know), so getting your base reference point makes everything better understood.

Thanks.

Ok, that makes more sense.

Looking forward to those dyno and track #'s!

Yeah, the Automatic is going to make things a little harder for us at first, but definitely give us some consistency at the track! These new automatics can take a beating!

We're really excited to get moving with this car. We also have some exciting new products that we plan to display for you guys. You'll see it first at AmericanMuscle!

More dyno and track testing coming within the next 2 weeks! Stay tuned for the next exclusive round of mods we'll be leaking soon!
Any news on the 2011 3.7L V6 Bama tune development?
Yes...please...info on your developments with the 3.7L V6? I assume you guys plan on a full run of support for this engine? On paper it would seem to be a tuners dream.

Your 5.0 mods look awesome. As soon as I can talk my wife into replacing the other Honda with a 5.0 coupe I'll check those out as well.

:bigthumbsup

We'll have firm 3.7 support very shortly. We're waiting to develop our own stuff in house, as opposed to using the generic SCT values that most companies are using now. Not to say that SCT's values aren't a great starting point, we just like to calibrate everything as precise as possible in-house to ensure the quality of what we're sending out to our customers.

Thanks for the info Chris. I'd rather wait for the right tune than jump on the "right now". Good luck!
