Hey guys,

We finally got ahold of our new 2012 Boss 302! This thing is amazing. The power, the suspension, the color, everything about it is perfect. We picked it up on the 9th and couldn't wait to get it back here to our headquarters so we could start putting this thing to the test! Check it out:

There's no doubt that this thing is insane, even in factory form. Most people think we're crazy to modify the car or drive it the way that we do! This car was built to be pushed to its' limits, not sit in a museum. We were headed to New Jersey Motorsports Park to do some work on our 2011 V6 Project car, so we decided it was a perfect place to let our Boss out into its natural habitat!

5 days later, we were at the track with less than 500 miles on the clock! We wanted to have a little bit of fun and break it in the AmericanMuscle way. But first... why waste a good set of stock tires when we have a new set of TSW's ready to bolt-on?!

We also decided to bring a Camaro to the track with us, just to make things interesting! We knew the Camaro wasn't going to be a challenge for the track-ready Boss 302, and we'll be back with a more worthy opponent when one is released. Either way, the video turned out really cool and both drivers had a blast!

Was that the outcome that you expected? Tell us what you think!

A Grand Sport Vette would be more of an equal race. I'd like to see that.

Sorry to get out ahead of you, but I posted a link to the Boss 302 vs SS video from an email AM sent me a couple of days ago. A lot of people on here have already seen the video. Sorry about that!

I was suprised to see the SS Camaro pull away at the line from the Boss 302, maybe the little be of lack of Torque in the lower RPM's or wheel spin caused that, but the Camaro has gobs of TQ from that 6.2 litre at low RPM, but still no match for the high Reving boss 302! Thumbs up! :bigthumbsup

No worries, I'm glad you liked it enough to share! :bigthumbsup

I figured I'd get the other two videos out there, so people knew a little bit of the back story of the car. We didn't waste any time!

It's not going to be in-tact for a long time. We'll have this thing ripped apart very soon!

American Muscle is some friggin awesome! Those guys and gals were like kids in a candy store looking at that thing.

I thought the Camaro did damn well. I wonder what would happen if you guys switched drivers. And I was also surprised the Camaro smoked him off the line. It(Boss) has a reported quicker 0-60 et doesn't it? Sure didn't look like it there. Was it mentioned if the Camaro was modded?

I cannot wait to see what you guys do to that thing. You guys have one the coolest jobs out there, and you do it very well.:bigthumbsup

Equal value? A GS costs more than a GT500. Even a regular vette is already more expensive than a Boss.
Yea. But that Camaro cost much less than the Boss.

I have a GS 3LT. Cost me 58. You can get a 1LE Vette for 45K or less. If you think you're paying sticker or under on a GT500 or Boss you're in for a big surprise. I went to go get a GT500 when they came out. The dealers mark them up so high it's laughable.

Competition is good! It gets us better cars.[/quote]

I agree 100%. If it wasn't for the competition, the new mustangs would probably still have the 4.6 motor in them. Like mine :(

I was simply saying that I was surprised it was that close. I thought the Boss would have had a little more room to spare vs a stock SS.

Hey AMChris, you guys should do the same track with a stock(or maybe bama tuned /cai) 5.0 versus the Boss. That would be interesting:yup: But then again, all your 5.0s are probably nowhere near stock any longer:winks

i would actually rather see a 2011 mustang gt vs the camaro ss on this road course; now THAT would be a good race.

Yeah, and? The price difference between an SS and a Boss is much smaller than the price difference between a Boss and a GS. I'm not quite sure why you think a comparison with a $15k difference in price is more fair than one with a $10k difference in price, but that doesn't make much sense to me.

It's not all that difficult to find a Boss at MSRP. I've talked to my local dealer about the one they've got on the showroom floor, they're ready to go let it go for a few hundred under MSRP.

The cost of the car is really not a huge factor, it's really more about each cars "position" in the market. Obviously, Chevy didn't build the Camaro to chase the Boss, they built it to chase the GT. They're building the ZL1 to chase the GT500. The Boss really is in a class of its own, and there's nothing current that we can compare it to. Maybe a Camaro with 2 grand in suspension work or something?

Either way, we had fun - that was the purpose!

My dealer offered a boss at MSRP back in January when I ordered my GT. It was just a little too $$ for me.

There are other variants of the Camaro than the base SS package. Just like the SS and Firehawk packages in the 4th gen cars you can get SLP variants from the dealer. Might be a better race since we're splitting hairs here.

I don't know where you guys are getting Boss 302s at MSRP but you're lucky. Here on the east coast they're gouging people to death on um. Maybe because the economy is stronger where I live, I dunno.

the dealer I got my GT from said that ford had 3 bosses allocated for them and 1 laguna seca that the dealership owner claimed and pretty much said that the dealer would sell the 3 for MSRP but not a penny lower.

A bit later on when I was checking in on the status of my build, I asked him if they had sold all 3 Bosses and he said they were gone by the end of the week after I placed my order.
