Another Race (second one)

ok, I was on my way home from UCONN (my school) with my cousin in the car and I was just enjoy my ride home on this nice sunny day. I was driving no faster that 75 mph and then this black 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee pulls up right next to me and grins at me with his buddy in the car. I didnt think he actually wanted to go and I dont really like racing on a highway, but he jus sped off. My instincts told me that i couldnt let him get away so i went. We raced for probably 2 miles and he had a good lead because of that headstart he had. I finally caught up and rode right next to him. I grinned back and sped past him doing around 100 mph (i know i shouldnt have but i couldnt help myself). I got off my exit and he followed me and i stopped at a gas station off the exit. he stopped and said "Nice ride, is that a GT?" i said "nope, just a little V6".

p.s. Is it just me or is it almost impossible to resist racing when you are challenged? I felt like a jerk when i got home because i know i could have hurt others by going so fast.

Stay out of the street scene dude........

You were racing a Jeep for God sakes.......

Take it to a track. You should be trying to beat your own times and occasionally the guy next to you.
Please stop racing jeeps, and old men in 93 linclon's....

And if you do continue we don't care. Race something thats gonna keep up with you and make it a drivers race. My rule was I wouldn't play with anything on the street unless i knew it was gonna beat me or give me a really close run.

That way every time I lost a race it made me save my money for the supercharger. Now I pick on those guys:bigthumbsup
hey, i didnt want to race him, i jus couldnt really help myself. I need to find a track near where I live, does anyone know a website were i can find tracks nearby?

and Jeep's and Old men with Lincolns are fun to beat, haha. just kidding, Im trying to find someone with a mustang around here but its kinda hard to find
yea, you should try to find a track near your house. It's not worth racing on the street , and most of us have done stupid things like that but the best thing is to find a track and be safe about it.

Agreed.

OP, I have the right to back hand your ass so bad right now. Take it to the track or you're going to learn the hard way, what the effects of street racing can and will do to you.

But just for shits and giggles, do you realize what you're racing against? You're basically building yourself up for failure, racing ridiculously slow cars, when you actually do race a good driver with a fast car, I can guarantee you'll be in a world of hurt. You WILL be put in your place sooner or later.

hey, i expect to lose at some point and i never said i wouldnt ever lose or anything. i simply jus raced for the fun of it and thats it. im going to find a track and keep it off the streets.
All Im going to say is GOOD RACE. Some of those jeeps can be fast and as long as your carefull do whatever Besides you gave him a run for your money in a v6 when his is a v8.
The races around my area are spent out in the Country on this straight away road. I have never ran up against a jeep. Only cars I think will give me a Good run otherwise its not worth it. I MOST of the time will Accelerate to the Speed limit or go 10 over then stop racing.
On the Interstate we'll go about 30mph LOL and then Honk 3 times Slam on it till we reach about 100 or so but thats all I do and ita not an Everyday thing.
I have let people just slam on it and not worrie about racing them because I thought it was a Wast of my Gas.

Try and find somthing you think will be More Compitition.....Have fun and Be SAFE!!!
I wanna tell you all a little story. When I was about 23 and I had my 2003 Boss shinoda , a STi , and a Evo pull up next to me on a 3 lane road at a red light. They wanted to race , I declined. They sped off , the I hear a loud crash over the horizon. A jag had pulled out in front of them making a left hand turn out of walgreens. Both cars hit her side impact. A two year old boy , the lady driving the jag and the driver of the STI all died. I stopped to help out and pulled out the 17 yr old driver of the evo and he was in critical condition. Now you have to realize at the time I was big into the street racing game , I dont know but that day i chose not to and god was looking over me that day. After that day i never raced again on the streets....

unfortunately it takes an accident like that for most people to realize what they are doing and unfortunately a lot of the time, it's too late.
Please for God's sake , keep it on the track. Please.......:bigthumbsup
Thats true, most people do have to see someone die or get seriously hurt to stop street racing. One thing is though, some people will see that and think " I am a better driver than they were so I would have been able to avoid the accident". ANd they would keep racing. Some people, mainly younger guys think they are 10' tall, and bulletproof. Not true. I don't care how good you think you are, when it happens ther will be nothing you can do about it, you will crash. It's like my Grandfather told me before I went to Somalia. Don't be afraid of the bullets flying around you, those won't hurt you. Worry about the one bullet with your name on it, no matter how good you are or how careful you are, it will find you. Save it for the track. MOst tracks regularly have open days.
next time try to race a a cherokee SRT-8(just kidding), and man did you really went through that jgt58 ? that must of let me with a trauma if it happen to me. I couldnt imagine what I could of done racing them and getting away without a scratch and seeing those people dead....

Take it to the track and find out just how fast your car isn't.
