I recieved my my X3 tuner about 4 days ago from americanmuscle and put the 93 octane performance custom tune on my cobra. I was going to put the race tune on there today to see how "aggressive" they said it was and was just wondering something. I could of sworn when you put the tune on it, it says download then "upload" at some point but when I tryed to put the race tune on there all it said was downloading tune. Then it sayed completed now switch your ignition to off. So I did that, and then thats it, it took me back to the program car function. Is that right or is my mind playing tricks on me? I would call bama tuning but there are closed :(. I drove the car around, it did act agressive, but not sure it that was my performance tune or not..

received my pre-loaded SCT tuner about the same time you did...mine "uploaded" the "stock" tune to the tuner, then "downloaded" the performance tune to the car.

i then downloaded my race tune to the car after that....and i agree with you, it did not "upload" anything.

i think we are good to go...i guessed that my 91 octane race tune is in the 93 octane slot....a little confusing on my end too.

The first time you use the tuner, it will upload the stock tune into the tuner before it downloads another tune into the car's computer. After that there is no need for it to upload, as it already has the stock tune stored in the tuner if you ever want to go back to it.

Dont think of it as physically moving the tune. It makes a copy of it, so then all tunes are stored in the tuner. When you put a different tune in the car, it overwrites it, but it has a copy of the stock tune safely stored in the tuner still.

It's also a good idea to save the stock tune file to your personal computer in case something unforseen happens to the hand held!

go on SCT's website and download the required software, I currently use Diablo, their DSDownloader for importing and saving tunes and the 3.1 Dataviewer for reviewing Datalogs of the engine parameters under WOT!:bigthumbsup I know with the Predator you need a 12 V power supply (like $20 at Radio shack etc..)to plug into the wall outlet in the house and one of those 9 pin to USB cables for your laptop and handheld..

Found this on the 99-04 chip/tuner section of AmericanMuscle.com and ran across this post, its actually an adapter for the predator specifically for your computer, and its $40. Hope that helps.

any 12 volt power supply will work for the Predator it doesn't have to be that specific one, I got mine on ebay and it's in a radio shack box!

Is it really that easy to upload a tune to your car? It sounds simple, I have an SCT x3 hand held tuner, and my car needs to be retuned. At the moment I don't have the cash to pay the mechanic who custom tuned it on a dyno, but I want to upload one of the preloaded tunes from the hand held and see how the car runs. I am concerned I may mess something up.

It's easy with Predator so I'm sure SCT is the same, you need to make sure you use the correct download bit speed though!
