Any way to get FRPP hot rod cams for less? Also, install place?

Hello all. I've been looking around for hot rod cams but can't seem to find any for under $730. Is there anywhere I can look to buy a set that's used? Or a set that isn't so marked up? Or do I just have to suck it up and accept it?
Additionally, anyone know any places that are trustworthy for a cam install? My local ford dealer says they'd charge $610 all said and done including tax fees and head gaskets. I'd like to go cheaper, but I'd rather have it done correctly than have it damage my engine if poorly installed.thanks

Hey man. Great choice in cams. I'm going to be getting these this spring. Pricing wise I don't think you will find them any cheaper then that. I've been watching them like a hawk all over the internet. American muscle has them for 730 and that is the cheapest I've found. If you find cheaper please let me know. You will also have to buy new cam phaser bolts. Another 30 bucks. As far as install I say do it yourself. I am a tech and have done a bunch. But if I hadnt and wasn't a tech I would prolly still do it myself. Its not as hard as you think. If you can put brakes on yourself you can do these. You just need the 80 dollar holding tool wedge. I would watch online videos on how to do it. YouTube has a few. Just type in cam install for your car. Take your time and check everything twice. Worse case sanario if you think the chain slipped at all you will have to take the front cover off and correct problem. No head removal is needed. I know its nerve racking but it's not that hard at all. Definitely look into it man. Hope your car has that old school lope soon.

I'm not sure of the exact install price on these Cams, because every shop has a different rate. Like 08Candy said, we do have these Cams for a great price and can definitely sweeten that deal up a little bit more for you! We offer a 6% forums exclusive discount for all active posting members, shoot me a PM and I'll hook you up with that code.

That should save you a few bucks! Keep in mind, we also offer Price Matching. So if you do find them cheaper, just let me know and will gladly match for you with no questions asked!

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions or need some assistance. Our Mustang Experts are here Monday-Friday from 9AM-9PM EST and Saturdays from 9AM-5:30PM EST. If you want to hit them up, their number is 866.727.1266. I can also have one of them call you directly.

You might want to look at Brenspeeds Detroit Rocker cams. Similar to the FRPP Hot Rods but add more power. They are closer to 800 bucks but well worth the money. I had mine installed a few months ago, along with a FRPP CAI and had about a 35 RWHP boost. I used Lamotta Performance in Longwood FL for the install. Hes a Mustang freak and will do a great job. About a 1/2 hr drive from you. Jakes a good guy over there. They also have a chassis dyno in the shop.
I paid about the same for mine. You cant get them cheaper than that. I had mine installed at the ford dealer. They charged me 575.00, but they did a perfect job. Still loving the cams after almost 2 years. Dont forget the cam phaser bolt! 3L3Z-6279-DA Mustang Ford Camshaft Phaser Bolt 4.6L 3V 2005-2009 | CJ Pony Parts

Did the dealer supply a tune for the cams, or did you have to do that yourself? I've been interested in these camshafts, but I don't trust myself with the install.
Did the Detroit rockers need new sprigs or valves? How is the mileage effected? And how much was the install?

Thanks

Detroit rockers are no springs required cams so they are very easy to install. We charge $495 for the install, and you will find prices ranging all over the board on cam installs. Basically you will find shops that never do the installs that will charge dirt cheap to get work, or really high as they have no idea how much time it takes. Then you will find install facility's like us and others around the US that do them all the time and most likely charge between $500 and $700. I highly suggest no matter which cam you end up with or install center make sure they know what they are doing and have installed several sets of 3V camshafts. Don't be the test subject, installing them wrong can damage the engine. We have seen customers try to do it themselves and have serious issues, and others do it with great success. $610 at Ford is a good price, but not sure why they are quoting head gaskets you do not remove the heads... you might look into that.

Here are some videos of Detroit Rockers I pulled off of youtube.

That is just a few, you can find a ton on youtube.

No. Tune is from Amrican Muscle. It works well. AM's tunes are awesome.

If I remember the install was close to 600 bucks but he did some other stuff as well. My decision to go with the Brenspeed Detroit Rocker cams was the fact that most of the people who I spoke to about the hot rod cams all basically said the same thing: Not a lot of power from the cams but it does give you the lopey idle. The Brenspeed cams give you a similar idle and a better power increase.

Hey Brent: Do we see a Brenspeed "South" installation center in the future???? Like maybe Jacksonville FL??? Or even Datyona??
