I just installed my o/r x and I tried the antifouler trick but the code still popped up in 20 miles I have tried 2 on it and even the 90* bend antifouler and nothing works my stock studs holding the cats to the header broke off on both sides and I can no longer swap back as my original plan so my question is anyway I can pass inspection now?
Any way to pass inspection with o/r x pipe

the stock studs on the cats? are they a press in stud? if so punch the stud out and either replace it or just use nuts/bolts. You can always try drilling it out and again using nuts/bolts.
As it sits, you will fail on visual inspection for no cats. unless you had stock cats that are gutted you'll fail that part. You can try to see if someone would loan you some stock cats/mid section and/or see if you can buy a stock cat back exhaust.

no you will fail for sure, they look under the car, and if they see no cats its a federal law to have them, so they will fail you, not sure on this or not, but could also have the car impounded and have the cops issue you a ticket.

I was about to post this same question... I'm down here in TX.
I talked to an inspection guy and he told me to bring the car down and not to worry about it, just as long as the car doesn't have a code.
I finally went down there and he hooked up the computer and I still failed. The O2 sensors were responding... which sucks.
My plan is to put the stocks back on and take 'em back off... $200!
Oh well, I knew that when i bought 'em.

So you violated federal law so you could make your car louder and go fastarr!! (ie: pollute more) and now you're whining about passing inspection and asking people on this forum to become complicit in your attempt to obtain fradulent inspection? What an awesome person you must be.
You gotta pay to play son. You decided to risk the fines and additional complicaitons both mechanical and legal just to get a single digit HP gain. Now go take your medicine.

I hope some of you can learn from these people who try to cheat the system and lose. There's tons of street-legal mods that won't get you in legal trouble or worsen air-quality. Removing cats on a street car is just dumb.
BTW Caring about the environment doesn't make you a liberal "chicken-little" like some are quick to assume. I live in TX, vote conservative, am a gun owner and work in the oil biz so STFU with the hippie/priuis comments that inevitably get spouted from the mouth-breathers here.

I wouldn't want to run off road. It smells like a**hole.
This isn't a street driven car it stays in my garage and I take it to the track but since it's got a loan on it I need to pass inspection to have insurance and register it that's the only reason y so if you have nothing to add please don't comment thank you sir

I used to stuff steel wool in the end of my pipes on my truck when I lived up north just before going in, it passed every time ran like crap but a coat hanger was the trick to get it out. Now with the new cars I would just have a shop weld some type of quick disconect on the cats to throw them on each year. As for the comment on the enviroment do us a favor stay in california with your laws. Hey move to florida you can run open pipes it's fun when passing a toyota gayious:deadhorse:

turning off the sensors will be an auto fail as well.
to the OP:
if your car has california emissions more then likely no aftermarket cat that is 49 state legal it will still throw a code...the cali emissions o2 sensors are insanely sensitive...its a PIA!!!

This post does abosolutely nothing to contribute to the thread and is nothing more than a troll post. If you don't have anything good to say and help the poster, don't say anything at all.
To the OP. I just put on a off road x pipe on last night and so far no CEL (fingers stil crossed). I also used some 90 degree foulers but mine are real long so hopefully fumes won't get to em. You could try longer ones to see if that works wrote doing anything more serious.
