I finally found an 8.8 for a price I like ($650 shipped w/10k miles) and I'm planning on putting 3.73s in it. I'm already planning on changing the diff fluid since I don't know how or when it was changed last. I'd like to go ahead and get the gears in while it's in the garage. Has anyone done the install before? Any tips?

Yeah, I may "leave it to the pros" as stated in that other thread. What a shame. I really wanted to do as much as possible by myself.

But, Oh well. Got the shipment notification for the rear AND the cobra flange today! :kooky:

I have done tons of mechanical upgrades to many cars in the past, one thing I would not do is rear end gears. They aren't impossible to do but there is alot of variables that if any are incorrect you could destroy the ring, pinion and carrier. Always better to shell out the cash for some things . . .
