Just wondering.ive heard it sionce the beginning of time but now it "seems" to be a little bit more noticible-louder-annoying.Stopped by the dealership where i purchased it at and asked, they fired u another one for me to hear and i did notice a slight ticking sound but not as loud as mine.Sounds like a noisy lifter just hoping its not somehting that needs attention or if some just have that.Ive heard many that do not make that sound but dont know if they do but im not in their car all the time either.Just wondering if anyone else has had the noisy problem and what theyve done about it.Thanks,Brent

I have heard occasional ticking on my 06 V6 but nothing too much to concern me. I just deem it normal. All engines have lifter noise but many vary in sound. Im guessing its the gas that we have here in the US

I noticed one real loud recently. It went away after a few moments. I hope it doesn't come back

It will. There is a Ford service bulletin about this issue about 6 or 8 months old. Just ask about it. In fact someone in here has posted it before. A little investigation of this website will uncover it I just cant tell you where to look.

My GT has 12,500 miles and the service bulletin has not been done, yet. The clatter comes and goes. If left to idle while the engine is hot for a few minutes mine will tap loud then get softer then dissapear to a normal lifter sound. If left to idle longer it sometimes comes back. I am afraid the guys at the dealership might chip my fender paint so I live with it.

Doesnt hurt anything just annoying.

I thought these engines were OHC..hence no lifter?

Yes the sound is a TSB, but all OHC engines have a slight ticking sound to them. Listen to a Honda run, or an older Escort with the Mazda DOHC 1.8 (or its also in the MX-3 and Miata). All haveaslight ticking sound. Though, if it is loud enouh to be a concern you probably need to have your dealer check it out.

If it is truely a 'Ticking' or 'Clicking' sound and it is coming from all of the cylinders, then it is the fuel injectors and is normal. If it is more of a tapping sound and is only on one or two cylinders, then it may be lifter/tappet related.

I just had this fixed under warranty. There is a TSB on it, so take your car in now. I drove with it since I owned the car, and I cannot explain how much better the car runs now that I took care of it. They replaced all the lifters for me and I actually have acceleration the way the car was supposed to accelerate.

I've had no more ticking and my gas mileage is way better as of late. Take it in soon, should only be a one day fix (I got mine fixed when I was at work).
