Anyone see the stock GT dyno in MMFF?

Has anyone seen the newest issue of Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords? They have an article on exhaust systems and their effect on hp. Their baseline stock 5 speed GT was pulling 289 at the rear wheel, which translates to about 340 at the flywheel!!!!! STOCK!!!!! Maybe the big car mags were right, maybe Ford was sandbagging a bit with the HP numbers. I kind of felt like a car that can get 0-60 times of 4.9 had more horsies!!! BRAVO FORD!!!!:kooky:

?? I've seen 0-60 times of 4.9 for the Pontiac GTO, not for the Mustang, which seems to be often placed at 5.1. Who got 4.9? Was it consistent and among more than one party?

Not to start a Mustang vs GTO discussion becuase - proper respect to the GTO, they're far enough apart in stock numbers, performance and price. Just wondering.
Road and Track, April 2005 issue clocked their 5 sp. stick 0-60 in 4.9. Car and Driver had a stick convertible GT doing their 0-60 in 5.0 (which wheighs about 150 lbs. more than a coupe!
Didn't Car & Drive get a 0 - 60 in 4.9 for the GT coupe, too? Auto, I think.
I think the auto came in at 5.1 and the stick at the 4.9.

and yes, that was on the GT coupe

Motor Trend tested an auto at 5.1 and later a stick at 4.9. The auto's 5.1 was the first released so that is what everybody remembers.
ah yes - that is correct, thanks for the verifiation and the correction.:yup:

Man, I've been cracking up for awhile at your alcohol, firearms, and tobacco line!!!!:drink:
Uh, yeah. And the GTO that did that was not the 350HP version, right??? (Pathetic that it even takes that much more HP by Pontiac, and Dodge's Charger to even keep up) And how much more $ is the oversized Cavalier. Enough said!!!

Some of those max RWHP numbers seem a bit high for "stock", this could be attributed to the "modified air box" and the AFM air/ fuel tuner to perfect rates over stock (289.8 "stock" max rwhp? 290.0 "unmuffled" max rwhp? I don't think so). Almost every 5 speed manual '05 dyno I have ever seen posted is in a tight group of 260-270 max rwhp.

The very next article on Long Tubes they get about 273 rwhp or so on that stock setup (Rouch stage I).

They give Bassani and Ford Racing the highest "gain" marks. Even at that your talking appx 2-3 rwhp posted "gains" which could result from margins of error to operating temps. I really think the muffler swap out are basically nothing in way of gains. I have Borla's which lol, are the Ford Racing units with "Borla" stamped on them in lieu of "Ford Racing". I dyno-ed zero net gains as I expected but, hell I was at the dyno shop anyways as they did my cat backs for me.

Just don't be fooled that buying "axle back" mufflers will give any detectable rwhp gains on the '05's.

Yep 255hp base line ,then after the K&N they got 265hp, after the flows 271hp ,and after the NOS thay got 335, somthing like that!
Those numbers sound right. Remember thought that the Auto has 3.31 gears while the stick has 3.55 gears.
I saw that episode of Horsepower TV as well. Is it just me or does NOS seem like cheating? I'm not that knowledgeable about it, but won't it eventually ruin your engine too?
