AOD into 68 cpe

I am building a 68 cpe for my 16 yr old daughter. She decided to change the 3 spd manual trans for an auto. I have access to an AOD trans from an '89 E150 van. The trans bolts up to the motor just fine, but the crossmember will not fit because the trans pan is longer and wider than the C4. Does anybody make an aftermarket crossmember or do I have to fabricate one myself? Also, it appears that the driveshaft will have to be shortened about 1.5 inches which I know shouldn't be a big problem. I sure would appreciate any help.

Don't forget about the throttle valve cable. The AOD will not work without it. In fact, driving without the TV cable hooked up and adjusted properly will destroy the AOD.
A couple things come to mind, the flexplate from the newer motor cannot be used on the older 289/302, the balance weight is different and the AOD torque convertor will not bolt up to an original application flexplate(I think). Check Windsor Fox Performance for swap info and parts, I am sure there are other sources also, just can't remember them at the moment.
