i just had my AOD rebuilt. the first few days i ran it, it ran great! no problems what so ever. for some reason, it was slipping slightly, so i added another quart to the tranny. then all the problems started. it started leaking out the dipstick bad, so i obviously over filled it, and the tranny wouldnt hardly shift unless i was going fast enough. this is probably a moronic question, but this is my first auto so i dont know anything about them. would too much fluid in the tranny make it shift hard? also, i pulled the dipstick tube out and it doesnt have an o-ring or seal of any kind on it, isnt it supposed to?

Should be an O ring around the bottom of the dipstick
tube where it goes into the case.

Your shifting very possibly comes from the throttle
valve cable either being unhooked or out of adjustment.

some guys pull the cable out 1 notch or even 2 beyond
what will give a 33 lb reading - firms the shifts up some
and also increases the rpm for full throttle shifts a little.

Just FYI here's some info on making your AOD live

And, yes, too much fluid is a very bad thing -
whips air bubbles into the fluid, very bad on the trans!
