Planning on installing a thermostatic fan clutch to replace the mechanical fan. At what temp does the thermostatic fan clutch fully engage the fan ? Can you order fan clutches to engage at different temps ?

I've never seen where there are different temperature ranges for the fan clutches. I have never seen a fan clutch fully lock out either on a mechanical fan either. The fan always has a little resistance even when cold, but you can always move it by hand whether it is hot or cold, it's a little stiffer to move when hot. I know I have a good fan clutch on my 1990 mustang, because it hasnt been on there over a 1000 miles yet. The only thing I have ever heard as far as a different fan clutch would be a heavy duty fan clutch (all I know about this is that it was put on police mustangs).

If yours isn't a concour restoration, I would go with a flex fan, its lighter, doesn't have the clutch which is a lot of weight. Good Luck.
All true, but I do think they are a bit noisier. I have a 7 blade flex fan on my convertible. At 60 mph, it makes noise that makes the engine sound like it needs to shift gears.
