I've been informed, by Cotton States, that the 2005 Mustang has not been rated as yet. What the heck is going on? I've had this thing since Dec. 18th. Is there that much difference between a 2004 and a 2005????????

It's rated a *26 in Texas (One of the highest, if not the highest rating). This means that I now pay $1800 every 6 months to have the privilege of driveing my 05 GT.

That rating has to do with your driving record, age, demographics, etc.
My insurance agent gave me a quote on a 04 GT of $483 every six months, but could not tell me how much for an 05.

The *26 rating is the rating of the car, not my record etc. My Explorer was rated a *11. Although under 25 males living in Harris county (Houston) pay the second highest insurance rates in US. I believe Wash. DC is first. I've never had an accident, or any speeding tickets (at least that went on my record).

I guess I'm not hip to the rating system. I just assumed it was on your record. My original post was addressing the issue of the difference between an 04 to a 05. I realize there is a difference in style, but I don't understand the difference in rating on this vehicle. Sure it would cost a little more colision repair, but both are high performance vehicles...............ya get my drift? It's not like the difference between a GEO and a C6 Corvette. It's Stang to one year newer Stang.

Wow!

Speed_triple, you got a quote for $396 for 6 months from State Farm!? That's incredible! I'd be interested in your demographics, age, and driving record, and what kind of coverage you're getting, if you don't mind. Please private message me. I'm a little past 27 too with a good driving record, and multiple vehicles, homeowner's, and RV trailer with Farmers. Thanks!

Full coverage, a $250 deductable and yes I'm married. We have three cars and our house insured threw them so I believe we got a discount. Also no wrecks or speeding tickets. My 2000 GT is about $390 every six months. I have it on a limited mileage policy at 7500mi a year, which is more than enough because it only has 6000mi on it.

Im 28 with a lot of tickets in my past, I only have 1 currently on my record right now and my insurance is gunna cost me 400/6mths on my 05 GT. thats full coverage with a 500 deductable. I asked my agent what the ticket was costing me as far as on my premium and it was only 40 dollars. The ticket goes off the record in April and then my premiun should be around 360 dollars. Im single, the company is Texas Farm Bureau...

Paying $623 for 6months through State Farm in San Diego. I have 50/100 Liab, with 250/500 deductible. I'm also married and have a 2nd car, and renter's insurance through State Farm.

Auto Insurance rates are going to fluctuate between age, driving record, location, married, and also your status with your current insurance. I used to work at Geico, and I can tell you that I have seen quotes from $350 to $2500 every six months on the same vehicle but different driver, location, etc. Typically, if you live in the city you are going to pay a lot more than someone living in the country side! Also, certain states are rated differently depending on the insurance laws of that state. CA insurance rates are high within city areas due to $50,000 SUV's and more expensive cars on the road. In some states if you have one accident and one ticket within 3 years you can lose a 20% savings, such as CA!

Insurance

My insurance is just under 600 every six months through State Farm as well. I have a little higher deductible to get the rate under 600.:yup:

500 bucks for 6months thru State Farm. Full coverage and 250 deduct. I'm a single male 39 years old and haven't had a speeding ticket for a long time (keeping fingers crossed) and hopefully that record continues, but probably not likely. :strut
