bad ignition module?? car wont start

hi guys. have been trying to get my car started with no luck. i have 12 volts at the coil. is there anyway to test the ignition module on the side of the distributor ???:headscratch:

Check to see if your getting spark to plugs, if not it's probably the ign mod or the pick up inside the dist. aka the Hall Effect Sensor. Good luck Hoss.

You can take the module off and have it tested at an auto parts store, however mine tested good at Advance and the guy told me that his machine often makes the wrong call. Mine was acually bad so ask the person about this. They are in the $25 range so it is a pretty cheap fix and if your car has alot of miles on it replacing is not a bad idea. There is a way to check yourself but I forget how, someone on here knows.
