Great great product! Last time I went to the track the car would just absolutely not want to shift, installed the new shift bracket yesterday and went to the track last night. Best run was a 13.00, pissed cause the track was slick I couldnt get a great launch, ran 5 passes w a slow of 13.20. Anyways the car shifted awesome 2nd to 3rd was smooth as silk. Can't believe the bracket helped that much but a definate definate buy for anyone w the manual trans!!
Also my buddy just bought a new f150 single cab 2 wheel drive w a 5.0. He has a basic superchips programer and about 800 miles on the truck other then the programmer all stock. He ran a slow pass of 14.91 and 3 passes at 14.58, very impressive if you ask me. The 5.0 is a great motor, thought I would share :)

Good Review. I bought the JHR bracket and love how it shifts. It was also cheaper than the Barton bracket.

I installed my Barton shifter bracket Saturday. Shifting from 1-2 is much more enjoyable, I do notice an increase in noise.

Side note: I got an intermittant check engine light on the way to work this morning, not sure if it's even possible for this to be related to installing the bracket - installation seemed pretty idiot proof

I showed my wife (ex-design engineer) an online picture of the stock Ford bracket that comes from the factory, cut rubber, zip-ties and all....then compared it to the Barton bracket for her.

She just looked at the stock piece cross-ways, muttered something about dimensions, clearances and quality, shook her head, and walked away.

Needless to say, I'm ordering the Barton bracket today. It's more expensive than the JHR, but looks a little more solid and should do a better job than the stock POS.

The JHR bracket is much more simple, no bolts to back out or anything, and just happens to be at a lower price - my 2 cents, love mine!
Yup, and it's a nice thick aluminum bracket. That's why I didn't go with the Barton bracket. I didn't want to have to mess with the 4 little screws and getting an allen wrench in there. With the JHR, you bolt on and drive. To each there own, they all do the same thing and do wonders for this transmission.

Thanks for the review I'm still deciding if I want to upgrade or not.To be honest I have not had any issues with the stock set up but ofcourse I recognize the superior quality of the aftermarket parts.

Installed my Barton last night. Shifting is much crisper now. I wouldn't call it smooth. Shifts are now very defined with a nice audible click on every shift. 2-3 is devine. Best money I've spent so far.

guys i installed mine.

I really gotta play with the boot because the noise almost sounds like I'm supercharged... there is a pretty noticible whine. Its not so bad I can't live with it, just a bit annoying.

My bigger problem is how hard it is to get into reverse... I really think i messed up somewehre in the install... theres no reason it should take two hands for me to get in reverse. I'm not a big guy, not a very strong guy but even still theres no reason this is normal.

Can anyone tell me if it makes any sense that I did something wrong? I'm thinking when i transfered the ball cap thing from the oem shifter to this one maybe I didn't seat it right back into the car before bolting it down ?

Would really really like some advice please.

Star bai, I offer no first hand assistance, but you seem to be the first to mention so either yours is flawed somehow, or install went awry. I am seriously thinking about getting the bracket, I beat the living crap out of the car last night and noticed for the first time how much the location of the gears changes in relation to the car(interior trim) under extreme lateral loads. Does the bracket resolve this? On my 08 GT I had the hurst shifter and I loved that mod because even when you weren't driving fast, you noticed it all the time, like the car should have been that way from factory. Does just the bracket produce the notching into gears, or do you need the entire shifter. To me the gear throws are short enough, just not precise enough.

Aaron, I'm pretty sure my issues are user installed issues... I think it is because i installed the rubber boot incorrectly.

I'm in class right now, and will fix it before my drive home, and report on if it fixed it when i do get home and will be in a better position then to answer your question.

Whatever is wrong with it, I'm 99% sure its a flaw in my installation or the piece i received.
