Hey guys new user here, been looking around frequently but just made an account. Hoping to buy a used 2014 v6 Mustang very soon for around $19k.

Are there anything I can do to boost the horsepower up a little bit for not too much money?

Also is there anything else that needs to usually be upgraded in the car? Exterior/Interior/Stereo??

Thanks guys and hope to stay in touch.

A tuner and tune is a good starting point. After that, it depends on what you are looking for from your car and how much you think you want to spend. (Whatever number that is, double it to get to what you'll end up spending.) A 1/4 mile car or a track car are different from a DD you just want to feel good about when you drive.
BTW, what options packages does your car have? You might want to get them down a bit on the price if it's a pretty basic car.

Hi gjones0422!

just a warning about the manual adjustment passenger seat in base interior Mustangs... it is NOT height adjustable and and is set very low. My 5`6" girlfriend complains that she is sitting on the floor. So shopping for a car with the comfort group (with passenger power seat) is a good start if your significant other is on the short side. If i had known before, i would have ordered the car with power seats.

If you like music, your first mod should be speaker upgrades as it makes a big difference. Front speakers are easy to swap out and make the biggest difference in sound. You will work harder to swap out the rear ones, so you may want to keep the stock units there. I use Pioneer TS-D6802R in my front doors and they're fantastic for what they cost. I have the previous version of those speakers in my Mazda3 and they still rock after over 10 years of use.

Get a tune and CAI. Biggest bang for the buck with the least amount of work.

Hey guys thanks for the info, really appreciate it. Overall looking to spend about $2k overall on the car. Want to put subs in the car, add a hood scoop(not that expensive i believe?) and whatever else I can fit into that budget. Thanks a lot again guys.

A tuner and intake combo will eat up a little over 1/4 of that budget $500-$600, speakers may cost you around $150- $200 for 4 high quality replacements and more if you want a sub (assuming you do the replacement yourself), a hood scoop painted may be around $300 which leaves you around $900 for other goodies. I recommend new lower control arms, shocks, struts and springs to eat up the rest of the budget. That's a solid budget and you can really wake up the car and change the look completely with it. Best of luck!

For $2k, I'd skip the intake and just go for the tune. If you lower your car, you should also get adjustable upper control arm/bracket along with an adjustable pan hard bar. Lower control arms and relo brackets would be good there too. There are also other things that go with properly lowering a car so that can really eat up a budget fast. I put on new sway bars and Koni shocks for much less. New gears out back is a good bang or the buck but don't spend too much on the labor. Shoot for the $500-600 range installed. One cheap mod that makes a huge difference when you push the car is a new shifter bracket. The factory one is junk and most anything else will be better. Simple to install if you have ramps or stands. Axle backs are good for sound but no real power there.

You also said you want a hood scoop. Are there any other appearance mods you want? Side scoops, quarter louvers, rear louver, spoiler, chin splitter, grille? Any stripes in your future? Wheels / tires are good mods but expensive. Inside, speakers are good. I run the same thing Fabulozzz has up front but haven't found ones to replace in the rear yet. Believe it or not, the stock speakers seem to have more bass than anything I've tried, including those Pioneers. They're not so good on the top end so the new door speakers make a big difference.

Remember, this is a never ending list and these are just the starting points.
