I have a 200 l6, I was thinking about putting in the pertronix ignition and flamethrower coil, but is it really worth it, and if so is it easy to install?
I was surprised how QUICKLY they burn out. I was recently helping a friend troubleshoot his dual ignition V-12. He powered the electric fuel pumps for pressure testing for all of 5-10 minutes. Afterwards he had to buy TWO new Pertronix as we had fried both of them in that very $hort time. One died instantly; the other worked for about ~5 miles before stranding us fortunately in the middle of a relatively quiet residential street.The base Pertronix will burn out if you accidently leave the key on.
